Elections in Turkey

Ok, I live in the hot city of Antalya, but I'm originally from Scotland.. There's elections coming up in March and the current prime minister is a candidate and he is threatening this;

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/mar/07/turkey-erdogan-facebook-youtube-ban-elections

Typical power hungry Muslim, only wants the sites to be closed, cuz there's a recording phone call of his son making a fool of himself, typical selfish turk.

But you know what? He'll probably win cause, the fathers of young girls don't want their daughters talking to boys, so he will win and Turkey as you know it will fall, I hope it does.

Is it a coincidence that Syria is on the borders of Turkey and it's gonna turn into it.

Why is it the Middle east that's always effed up.

I don't like any Politic Party in Turkey, all of them are stupid. But CHP will be better than AKP.
More than the elections I really really hoping for military coup like back in the 80's before this stupid orc's grow up.

If you know proper Turkish, I'd like to talk to you with my own language.

Oh, you're Turkish? What's your IGN? Yes, I do know fluent Turkish cause I was dragged here at the age of 9 haha.

  • My extremely personal and pretty controversial opinion is that not every country needs western democracy.
It's certainly not the pinnacle of humanity it's made out to be.

I have no idea what Turkey is like so I won't speculate on whether or not this is one of those cases.
But it didn't do a world of good for Iraq, the American decision to give them some western peace and love.

Mind you I'm not saying a place like.. France, would be better off with a dictator, but not every country is best served by "one man, one vote".

    He's deleting everything about Ataturk/Turk's
Here's a little sample; http://www.turkishclass.com/forumTitle_29075 He banned this from the schools.
So a conservative basically. Could be dangerous, if hes against the Ataturk pro-western direction.

The removal of andimiz seems reasonable though, a bit silly thing to do every day imo, but I wouldn't understand the traditional value it might have or whether or not it's popular.

I can't really believe the terrorist bit because I know nothing of terrorist groups in Turkey.
  • Question, who is running for the same position?
Do they have a stronger platform to run on? Do they have a better supply of campaign donations to feed the machine?

Sorry I don't know much about Turkish politics. I do hope that whatever happens Turkey is placed on a good path to progress forward.

This guy is followed by the uneducated Islamic freaks of Turkey, the educated people support the nations party. But, there's more uneducated islamic freaks than educated people, so he'll win, for sure.

He's compared to Ghadafi and Saddam Hussein, cause he is controlling the people.

When I was 11, Youtube was banned in Turkey, it got banned because there was a video making fun of Ataturk, so it got banned for like... 4-5 years.

Now Tayyip has banned the erotic sites (Not saying, that's a bad thing), but he has no right to stop people from watching what they like, when they like in their own household. He is controlling people and now made a law that you can't buy alcohol after 10 PM. If people want to drink their lives away, thats their own choice, but people can just buy 10x more at 21:59, and he can't do anything about it. He just wants people to look at him like he is powerful.

much stupidity was in your post.
not everyone is like you, living with your parents at age 34.
op already said he works at a british agency (so guessing hes no longer depending on parents), so im guessing hes more than old enough to move to any other country in the EU, because of European freedom of movement to participating states, which includes the UK.
  • I think those that want to ban Facebook/Twitter etc should.

It does nobody harm except themselves hahaha
  • the people that are in power in turkey now are the same category of people who managed to get to power here for a year by the aid of the very western pro-ataturk party! ... funny how politics works eh? ... thats why we call our army patriotic when it stepped up for the will of a nation and ousted the radicals after a black year of whatever the **** happened after 25th revolution! in a move that is considered by some a coup since it was not to be successful without the army's role in it! while its just still the revolution! by a nation that every single male in it has served his duty in army... i think that's what armies should step for these days instead of backstreet civil operations or blatant moves out boredom

And you know I'm 34 how?
One doesn't move out of a country just because they want to. You also need a job and a place to stay. If his job requires him to live in Turkey and they have no other open spots in other countries, how can he move? It's not that easy. Besides for some people there's another factor to be included when moving to a different country which is family.
So, if one wants to complain about the country they live in they shall, its called freedom of speech. Doesn't mean they need to move just because they don't like some things in that country.
And FYI, I am not 34. Yes, I still depend on my parents, because I do not have a job or an opportunity to change my country.
So before you make stupid comments regarding a person's age or status, think about what you are going to write and don't write it.

Did you know that what you are talking about is limited by your false sense of reality? Maybe if you studied just a little bit harder while in school you wouldn't be blinded by these fallacies that have cast a cloud over your judgment. I once knew a guy like you who had everything he could ever want but in the end it meant nothing, because he never knew his true place in the grand scheme of things. I'm not trying to tell you how to live your life but, honestly buddy I think it's time you stepped down off of your high horse and looked life square in the eyes

You know what you just did there?
It's like that time when you contradict a person regarding something and when they see they have no counter argument they start bullcrapping.
How do you even know what I have done in school?
To me it seems you are the one with the clouded judgement here. I mean, in your opinion its just so easy to move to another country.
You don't know anything about my life, about me, about what I know, what I own, what I want. In the end you're just another sad person on the internet that thinks like a 10yo, that has never faced a real problem in his life and thinks that everything is made out of fairy dust and rainbows.
I do have my high horse, and I stand proud of it. You ain't gonna take me down because you don't have the arguments nor proof to do so.
You know that saying.. 'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.'? Learn something from it.. buddy. :)

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

You know, there's a reason for sayings to go on for so long. Most of them are true.
'Don't ever argue with an idiot for he will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.'
Experience, well you don't have any, as it seems, so I'm fine.
I am the one rambling? For the past two replies all you did is talk some nonsense in some 'high level' english that is obviously too high for you since you make such common mistakes. Its normal for people to make mistakes, especially when they don't main a language, but why try to sound waaaaaay smarter than you are? You have no point to prove so why even bother?
Sweety, move on. You have just been beaten by a 34yo person that has everything they have ever wanted but somehow they still depend on their parents. See? The crap you pull doesn't even make sense.

The problem is you're focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. So maybe you could use the few brain cells you have and take advantage of the knowledge I have given you now. Good luck.

And again I ask, how do you even know what I focus on? How do you even know how much of what I said relates to me, and how do you even know what I miss on and what I ask or do not ask myself? See, you make false assumptions about me, and in fact you know nothing. In our conversation you have gone from trying to beat my argument to trying to give me 'advice'. I would not take advice from a person like yourself that thinks the universe spins around him. Guess what? It doesn't. I can assure you, I have far more brain cells (neurons by the way) than you do and I can use them way better. So instead of giving me advice, grow up a notch and see that not everything is what you want it to be. As it seems to me you consider yourself a very wise person, when in fact you're just a phony with nothing else to say.
And to end my wall of text I shall add that you have no knowledge to give. To anyone.

P.S. : Never have kids. This planet has enough idiots running around thinking they own the place.

that is such a good story. I really can't pick "one part" that I liked the best. But if you were to hold a gun to my head, I would go with the part with the pictures. I just got off the phone with an armored truck company. They will be arriving in the morning to pick up my back up disk, which I just saved your story on to. There probably won't be much traffic, because I forwarded the police your story, and they agreed to escort the armored truck to its destination. At first the police chief didn't want to help, but then I guided his attention to the incredible pictures that you embedded along with your story. I mean, the story was good enough. But as soon as I saw the pictures that went along with it, I called my grandmother, who is blind and has Alzheimer’s disease to tell her. As far as her doctors in the nursing home are concerned, she is cured of all her ailments now that she heard your cool story. She is actually preparing to run the Boston marathon this year now. Thank you OP.
