A little story about school today..:D

So, I walk in to my last lesson which is extra english as I have passed my math exams.
We sit down, everything normal. Go on my phone, listening to music, doing what I have to do. Then I hear someone say EGYPT in the classroom and I shout out; 'Egypt?'.
Then my teacher answers me; 'Yes, egypt. I went there last summer'. So I thought to myself, wow let's ask what its like. I ask her what its like and she replied to me I QUOTE:
"It is too hot and the people are NOT nice, there are also a lot of russians".
So I think to myself, why the **** are there russians in egypt? Well anyway, what she said relates to how egyptians act in crossfire, unpolite, swear at you for no reason at all.
This kind of surprised me because I didn't think they would be like that in a real life situation lol, but turns out it is.

Kind of sad.

Anyone ells got a story like this one? Post it here and let me know! :)

  • It's a nice country as a tourist my friend visited there a couple of summers ago, nice from the pictures that I saw.

Although I can't picture myself going to any Islamic country the laws are just ugh.
  • Chances are, your teacher was mistaken for a Russian.
They have an.. unfavorable reputation as tourists.

I'd personally love to visit Iran or perhaps Israel, though Israel seems a bit closed off.
Mental image of a wall around the entire country I guess.
Saudi Arabia would be perfect, no alcohol but lots of money, but I'd never go on moral grounds.

also moved to OT, this in no way relates to CF.

about it =))we are everywhere :D

I don't know what's going on on egypt...but I can tell you something about israel if you want

ok so the population here?is not 100% israeli(jews)...30% of the country are arabs 30% russians 10% are ethiopes and only 30% are jews >.<"

there is more russians in israel than jews

the wall is only around Jerusalem...not all the country >.<"""
only "deep god believers" lives there...80% of the country are seculars
  • so maybe russians are hacking from Egypt ? :3 xD

OT : well , Egyptians can't forget what some countries did to them in the past and I think what they did to us will change us for ever , after all U still can find some nice ppl are trying to be friendly with others ( even that they aren't alot )

to clarify, russian is a nationality, "jew" is a religion.

the 30% russians could very well be 100% jewish, for example.
giving us a quick 60% jews, assuming none of the "arabs" or "ethiopians" are.

Yes, and Russians say "kos omak" every 10 seconds.
  • I've lived in Saudi Arabia, and have visited Egypt, Morocco, Oman, Bahrain, and the UAE, specifically Dubai. My mother has had the chance to also visit Iran.

They were all interesting places to have visited as a tourist, and in the case of KSA, it was an eye opener on select perspectives on certain topics of life, liberty, and others.

I do feel that my experience over there is, however, incomplete, and can not come close to the conclusion: I now know who they are.

It would be akin to measuring a random sample of Brooklyn or Staten Island and calling it the whole of New York City.

These people are peculiar, aye. But to think you can write them off based on a sole experience, or to be in the illusionist world of tourism, or worse, to take somebody's word for granted, would be damning.

I am sorry that your teacher did not like Egypt. But I do believe if she had chosen perhaps a different season, or a different destination within, her experience would undoubtedly be changed.
Nobody is a kind person in the middle of a Middle Eastern summer :D

    obviously I'm joking :3 ...
  • It's a different culture which you may not like.
But the way they have spoken to your teacher is very normal there, but rude here.
