  • been dying for a while, only reason it isn't completely dead is because some organizations feel the need to waste time and money trying to revive something that has suffered multiple GSWs to the head.
  • Stop reviving a dead thread, esports is only getting bigger but this communities diversity is staying stagnant. Most of the best players moved on from this game atm or dont play whic gave room to other sub par teams to fill in spots to compete. You decide whats going on.
  • Its not growing or dying, as long as the game is around it will have the same amount of teams it always has had which is around 32-64 teams that are actively competitive. Of those probably 16-32 actually show up for all matches in competitions. If the game was growing we would have events with 128 teams maxing out by now, but we don't. I would say summer is around 64, school year about 32 for active teams. Id say ESG had a decent number of active teams for a Jan / Feb League.

This is probably an accurate assessment currently. Though we are treating that as a foundation to grow on.

Soon you will be able to compete in Monthly tournaments for cash prizes. We are working on reward systems to reward players for participating in each round of the tournament and ways to keep competition going.

Plus we have large format tournaments currently in organization with ESG which will bring larger cash prizes and more reasons to compete. The ultimate goal is to work towards a qualifying tournament for the next CF Stars. Which will once again award teams with even more large cash prizes.

The next ESG series is coming soon with a $500 cash prize, so stay tuned for sign up details.

Will we see a LAN in 2014? CFS S3 in my opinion deserves one seeing as we have had many issues with teams manipulating in or cheating in online qualifiers.

Is there a way we can keep the competitive tap on the z8 website up to date?

Still would like a response to my post asking if we could have the formatting for CFS site to use for an NA Competitive site. Id be willing to do the upkeep, just need the resources.

still baffled that you believe that many teams play this game, when there were only ~20 teams that actually played in esg

you could only get dq wins and move on to the bracket round.

    Yes, I could name them.

Competitive doesn't mean amazing or even above average in skill. It means they actively participate in competitions.

then why did over half the teams in esg not show up to a single match

    ???

You mean drop out after losing the two games?

This is definitely something that is a concern (the cheating). However we are working towards stopping that aspect with better companies and better anti cheats. For example, the cheating caught in the first tournament here will result in action against those accounts. We just got back from China so we are still playing catchup on the ESG events.

We are also building things into contracts with groups like ESG which will allow them or us to legally go after people who cheat and manipulate tournament results.

When you deal with cash, companies do not want to take any chances.

That being said, a LAN is something we would really like to see, but they are extremely expensive when you have to fly players from multiple parts of the continent to play.

Our goal and our timeline at the moment is to get through the next ESG tournament. Continue to build our base and get our e-sports partners under contract for the rest of the year. Then we can start to work towards our next goal of getting a NA championship team to go to CFS Season 3.

It's difficult to be more specific than the above at this moment in time, so I apologize if this answer sounds vague.

    shouldnt require better acs etc

people from the 'best'/richest/'most developed' etc countries shouldnt be dishonoring them
sets a terrible example for the rest of the (pub) community, although most cheat anyway

How is it competitive when you have no chance. You are just acting as a filler.

People still play for the free trip to China. The teams that tryhard and play on the daily are still acting as fillers in CFS qualifiers. Prizes in CFNA are lackluster. Competitive CF is just a past time for now, if people are truly searching for competition they will play LoL, WoW, SC2, CS:GO. Why spend so much time on a game that nets you less than what I can make boosting in league/selling maplestory items? Get better prizes and more people will play this game, but sonce every league has been a blowout no one is willing to invest in better prizes. No, a 2 grand prizepool is not good. This game(region actually) is in a quicksand right now.

We've got some ideas for what will happen this summer as far as competitive news goes and how we can bring it to the forefront more often.

At the moment listing specific details would be a bit vague.

Getting news out about the competitive scene goes hand-in-hand with increased prize support and tournament support. That point should be fairly obvious.
