Abnormal Ping?

I live in the United States so you would think sub 100 ping would be simple on the US Servers. I have had nothing but 95-120 ping since playing Crossfire and I cannot figure out why. Before you go off and say "buy new internet!" I have played numerous other games, many of which are far more taxing than Crossfire, and I always get less than 70 ping. I have done everything to close down other programs, even closing my internet browser during play, and nothing seems to improve it. I don't have very many programs on this computer that would be connecting to the internet when they're shutdown so there is really no reason why I can't seem to play this game smoothly...

It's not by any means unbearable. I can understand a spike here or there. I just question why it's so high consistently.
