Crossfire on another game engine

While browsing youtube randomly I found this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_D14GkptMkg
and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Pa10Y3hPsg

I thought it would actually be a good idea to take this and make a crossfire based on the source engine and use it strictly for competitive play, it would take the game to another level and honestly revive it, thoughts.

Comments

  • some cs gods somewhere are quite upset

also the source engine???????????? disgusting (coming from a ex-source player)

people are not quitting because of the engine

Create a flowchart of why people in this game are quitting I'm sure the engine should pop up in there somewhere if you do it correctly.
  • competitive gaming doesn't revive it......stable anti-hacking software does.

which comes with a newer engine.

not sure source is the way to go though..
  • I don't understand how the source engine works, but if it makes CF less cheater for both competitive and public gamers, I really like your idea and the engine should apply in CF

Game Engines don't make cf less "cheater" (because english) They provide better gameplay etc... Ie, even the source engine is a huge + compared to whatever garbage engine cf is.

Nothing wrong with the way cf plays

A more modern engine will typically have less chance of being as hacked as the cf engine is.

    wtf?

oh wait you dont play competitive. no wonder you're so oblivious

Ummmm, so you've never played a game besides cf?

So you've never witnessed css hacks, csgo hacks, rust hacks, arma/dayz hacks, payday2 hacks, insert any game into this line hacks?

Because I can tell you there's some crazy assed hacks out there. Ie on arma/dayz you can make everyone in the server dance at your whim. I don't see a hack like that in cf. All of which have way way way way way way way way way way way way way more advanced game engines then cf has.

    Do elaborate though.

CF doesn't play like CS:GO, but then if I wanted a game that plays like CS:GO, I'd play CS:GO.

    Doesn't make it wrong.
  • Isn't this like a vietnamese MOD ? I think someone else just made this. I played it today , kinda sucks.

Yes. Do see those games as hacked as CF? The lithtech engine is ancient and the architecture is basic... its extremely simple to create a wide variety of hacks compared to say... the Frostbite 3 engine.

Wallhacks are drawn over and hooked onto the game, not exactly hacking the game itself. Just reads player location information and colours them red. Thats why wallhacks are so popular and easy.

Hence why some games have different hacks.. its the way the game works.... not because it works. You wouldnt be able to turn a player in Crossfire into a bunny but you can on DayZ because the functionality exists.

I reaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllly think your confused here. All games that have client sided features are easily hacked. The game engine has nothing to do with hack protection. the antihack does. Ie whatever thing cf uses (Xtrap?), punkbuster, hackshield, battleye, vac etc... Every game I've ever played has had just as easy access to hacks as cf.

What your trying to infer is that cf has more hacks because of its game engine. Which is just wrong, you get an F here. Hacks in cf are plentiful because the game is a f2p. If I hacked in source or dayz, I could find them within 20 seconds, but I run the risk of being banned off servers/the game itself. Which means I have to pay 20 dollars to play again, in cf, I have to make a new email or at the most change my ip.

Its more the way the game and its engine work. Your computer reports which position your player is in to the server. The game could have the server do it but most games dont and have the users computer calculate it which is exploitable in the form of speed hacks, wall hack, fly hacks... ect ect by modifying the calculated value on the PC.

Perhaps using game engine was a stretch being that Lithtech and many others uses standard API's like Direct 3D and OpenGL to hook hacks onto but a LOT of games have the client calculate things like player location and damage. I meant that switching to a different engine would do nothing if the game works the same way. Hacks would still be rampant.

It still depends on the way the game works... id be interested in you finding a speed hack for DayZ for example. Dayz hacks are typically scripts, not hacks.
  • So long story short, skipping the fine details, if I were to attempt to make another version of crossfire on a better engine, would z8 even use it or would my efforts be in vayne.png

    Wouldn't be used.

If you were to develop an independent game fitting the G4 style, I suppose they might consider purchasing the license and publishing it.

Though they would not consider it for very long.
