American Football Discussion Thread
For American football fans, anyone watching? Pretty intense game, it's going to be quite a scrimmage.
I'm rooting for Nick Marshall and his crew. Munching on the popcorn right now.
Can also be viewed from ESPN online, they're live.

A huge disappointment toward the fact that FSU took home the title. Oh well, they did come out with a lot of pretty hotshot plays in the 2nd half, which probably overwhelmed Auburn a little. Only if Auburn didn't miss that field goal in the early second quarter, chances are that that could very well force overtime plays. Game-winning three points. But you gotta say that hundred yard kickoff return by FSU in the 4th was impressive but also the crucial TD that won them the game.
Anyways moving on, obviously it's January once again. NFL playoffs are on the spot. Who are you rooting for to win it all? With my favorite Ravens out of the picture this year, I'm looking for the 49ers to take home the trophy. If they can't win with Anquan Boldin (probably the best early Christmas present Jim Harbaugh received this year), then I really don't know what else to say. I might even host a raffle for the Super Bowl, idk but we'll see.
AFC Playoffs - Patriots over Colts this Saturday and Broncos over Chargers on Sunday
AFC Championship Prediction - New England to top Denver
NFC Playoffs - Seahawks over Saints this Saturday and Niners over Panthers on Sunday
NFC Championship Prediction - Niners to top Seahawks
*All scores undecided.
EDIT: Editted the title a bit so that it fits our theme here. I guess we'll be ranting about some good football for the next month or so, for all us football "nerds"... ahem fans out there. -
Personally, I feel like American Footballs s/t is a clear defined emo record that influenced a whole new generation of contemporary artists that went more with the math rock-ish sound so prevalent in emo bands today. The heartfelt lyricism combined with twinkling guitars sparkling within each other is incredibly beautiful. Coming together on this record is a blend of many influences, from jazzy tempos and earnest, heartfelt vocals, to clean, lulling guitars. This is a relaxing record, but it will retain your attention, rather than put you to sleep as some similar bands often can. It's as engaging as it is honest, which very well might be it's most redeeming quality. The guitar textures keep everything at a fairly mellow pace throughout, though spots of a more up tempo American Football shine through on tracks like "I'll See You When We're Not Both So Emotional." This is one of the heavier tracks in terms of vocals, and keeps an engaging and captivating beat throughout.
One of the most underrated records of the late 90's, and definitely a good entry point for anybody wanting to get into a real emo band.

I'm guessing you like soccer, which is a great sport, but at least their is more scoring in American football compared to soccer/football. -

This is the worst argument I have ever seen presented in a "which sport is better" dispute in my entire life.
