I broke the forums
It brings me great displeasure to announce that I have broken the forums.
A few days ago I was experimenting with some forum features and noticed that a new BB code was enabled that allowed YouTube videos to be viewable from the forum(I believe this was enabled when MOD Rex hosted the Extra Life Charity event). I then tested this with my signature. Surprisingly it worked. I only meant to test it for a short time but do to me not paying attention, I left the video in my sig.
Now others know about the enable BB code and are using it.
So please do not use this BB code in your sig as it causes havoc with loading a page.

I've been removing people's signatures who abuse it in their signatures (posting multiple in one signature) and they have been infracted accordingly.
We wanted to try and leave it so people could use it in their posts to see how it went, kind of a test for the new forum update. Then since it all happened over the weekend I left Saidin a message saying we need to disable it in signatures or if he can't get that to work disable it entirely. The community has been wanting image signatures for a long time now, and two days just went and showed that some people still can't handle it after all these years of people wanting image signatures. (I'm talking about the ones who put multiple in their signature, or put something that didn't link to a youtube video and caused large black/white squares in their sigs.)
It was sad to see that. -

We wanted to try and leave it so people could use it in their posts to see how it went, kind of a test for the new forum update. After all those years of waiting, it is sad to see other people ruining it for the rest of us. -

So you just base this of some randies who did it? You didn't even told us , you could of tell the community who has a brain and not some random's who think they're trolling. man man man. -

If you've ever read any of my posts about this topic you would know I'm one of the people in support of getting a few people signatures. The fact that we didn't say anything about this was because we never had the intention for people to be able to use it in their signature, read my post, the intention was for people to use it in their posts. However, the option was there and people abused it. That goes to show we cannot allow it to just be on for everyone, same with image signatures. I never said that it will prevent some people to get it. -

We still have the same stance on things, we are not going to just globally allow image signatures to everyone on the new forums. That does not mean we aren't still discussing ways to allow some users to gain the ability, but it is not something we will be allowing everyone. The forum update has nothing to do with allowing them globally, we could already do that if we wanted to.All media signatures should not be allowed in the official parts of the forum like the barracks and announcement sections especially.
Those are very distracting, makes scrolling harder and not needed.
Which is one of the smaller reasons we don't allow everyone to have them. Interesting idea though and I'll bring it up in one of our discussions about the new boards. Likely we would have to just disable signatures entirely in the section we wanted, though I would say that would only be the announcement sections, not barracks. -
Rank is determined by post count, privileges related to post count breeds post farming, and we don't want that again like when there were a (very temporary) ribbon for having 20 posts on the forum.It should probably be allowed to only forum members of a certain rank or something of that sort.
