problem with competitive play in general
Hi
I did not want to sound illiterate or wimpy so hear me out. I hope I don't get misinterpreted here.
The problem with... basically the way "competitive matches" are organized in the United States (although I am writing this from Canada)... is basically that the match continues as if nothing ever happened even if someone unluckily disconnects, and that is a big problem. If the match continues on without disconnected players, that means one team would have an unfair player advantage just for one incident, and I don't really think that is fair play because it rather sounds callous.
Now, by that I don't mean that the team of the disconnected player should be disqualified altogether because that would not be fair either, since one cannot really blame someone for bad internet as it could be either a bad incident or it could just be that the player was too unlucky to have good internet and could not afford it, but that player may still want to play.
There really should be another way to sort problems that may happen during a match because let's face it--This is not LAN. Anything bad can happen and we still need to make sure no one has an unfair advantage, because keeping everything fair is what sportsmanship is all about, although I am not sure if competitive play has anything to do with it, but if by "competitive" this forum means "as an organized sport," then I do think the rules of any e-sport should be reconsidered.
The reason why I am primarily concerned is because I am hoping to make sure neither my friends nor my opponents end up in a number disadvantage and we always have fair matches by the time we set foot on this game as a clan.
I hope to be taken seriously and politely.
