but it can only be as good as your sound card. you need a good one to make it worth it.

I own the Shure440's and they are very good entry level closed headphones, quite accurate and bright midtones. I've heard really good things about the ATH M50's as well and they've been going on some great sales this month. Also the MasterBrett is correct you will need a decent sound card to drive it, the port on your audio jack probably won't provide enough power to them either so you might experience some lack in bass or tones.

I would go for the ATH M50 tbh!
but if u have that kinda money to spend on headphones i would really recommend to save a little more and go for something like this.

They're all black and plain though :s
Normal people wear IEMs outdoors, and real headphones inside.
Colors don't matter when you're the only one who sees them. ;<

I'm looking for comfortable good headphones not flashy ones.
Don't really care if they are. Plus, these headphones aren't portable.

Yeah, up to this moment I'm mostly looking for something reliable.
Most of the headphones I've had have broken either because the cable breaks or because the sound in one of the headphones goes out. And they don't last much.
So I'm searching into durability a lot, and I like Shure and ATH because of the cable + the fact that they're good.

I'll promote my beyerdynamic dt770pro then.
great sound, replacement parts easily found and easily fixed, or so i've heard (pretty sturdy, haven't managed to break anything yet).
    cable seems solid.

I wish i remembered what they were called.. was looking at a pair of headphones couple weeks ago with safety connections or something, pops out or flexes properly instead of breaking when you pull/twist it too hard.
or do you mean that you crushed the cable?

I'm a bit skeptical about cables that have been "enforced" because I bought some Urbanears that supposedly had this cover over the cable that protected it, yet the tip of the cable, where you connect, it is having trouble. Need to move it a bit so it stops making a static noise and disrupting sound.
take note, I didn't know urbanears were this horrible, ugh so uncomfortable.
Only good thing is that it has decent base. Nah, I didn't crush the cables, it's just that they just deteriorated faster than usual, maybe from pulling at the cable?
