"Gaming" laptop suggestions?

I'm not that good with tech stuff and knowing which computer is good, what part is good, etc. So I'm hoping you guys can help me.
Looking to find a new laptop, preferably one that can run modern games fairly well.
Limit could be around 1k? If it's good and cheaper, then throw.

inb4 build a desktop.

  • Not the best computers, but when I bought my laptop, you want to look for 8gb memory I believe. Also go with an i5/i7. I have an i5, but I will definitely go with an i7 next time. What is your budge is one of the biggest question.

    8gb ram?
Any suggestions on good graphic cards that I should notice when looking for a laptop?
I'm guessing that by budge you meant budget hahaha
Around $1k would be the budget.

Pretty sure the graphics card in laptops are just prebuilt. I'll look for some good laptops in my eyes. Also do you want touch screen or no? There are a lot of laptops lately with touch screen.

Besides the 4GB of memory, this is a pretty good laptop, (I believe). You should probably try and get other people's opinion, who is more experience with this kind of stuff than I am.

  • 1000 dollars isn't much for a gaming laptop, at least 1300, you can get a multimedia laptop that will play games, like the lenovo y410p, which is equipped with Nvidia 750m, i7 4700qm, 8gb ddr3 ram, 1600 x 900 hd display, you can get 1080p display in the y510p which is the 15 in model, same price, which is around 800

    for SLI (dual video cards)

    1100,

    other option

    http://www.xoticpc.com/forcemsi-16f3-36053-675mx-msi-gt60-barebones-p-5566.html

    if you don't want SLI

675mx is slightly weaker tha 750m SLI (in games that are optimized for SLI) by ~10%

    so tldr:

y510p: $800 (single video card) will run most games at decent resolution on medium

y510p SLI: $1060 (double video card) will run games on high at good resolutoin

msi gt60: $1060 (675mx) around same performance as 750m SLI

personally at that range, i would get a consumer laptop + desktop.

forgot to mention if you buy the y510p with the single card, you can add the second card later if you want to increase performance
  • Why does it have to be a laptop? Looking to game on the go?

I find touch screen rather pointless on a computer, hahaha.

I'd rather avoid intel graphics cards on laptops, since they're built onto the motherboard, you can't upgrade them.

It's favorable for me to own a laptop rather than a desktop at the moment, hahaha.
Which is why I want something that would be able to run games decently. I'm not looking for a powerhouse, will get that when I get a desktop.
Also, I've heard Lenovo isn't very good.
Top brands that have been recommended to me have been Asus, HP, Dell (if you're willing to spend $), Toshiba & alienware but I'm not really that fond of alienware. Some people have recommended Lenovo, but not too many.
Would a double video card overheat my computer?

lenovo has one of the best build qualities, and yes you will need a laptop cooler for SLI setup, personally i had the Y410p and it stayed cool with the single card, if you are not looking for the power house

    http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y410p/

this is probably the most recommended laptop as of right now for that price range

if you prefer a 15" display you can navigate on their website and find it,

but i recommend you get the laptop with 1600 x 900 display

also they are offering 755m instead which is basically an overclocked 750m for now

I was reading some of the reviews & forums online and people said it would overheat on the SLI.
So what would be the difference between the Y510P & this one?
Seeing as they're both around 1k.
