Promoting E-Sports for CF

Hey, as OCG is moving forward for 2014 Id like to get some suggestions for things we could do in 2014 for the Crossfire community.

Here are some Ideas we had, and we would love to hear your Ideas as well.

- A competitive Ladder (Season form or continuous)

- A tiered League system (Similar to what MOBAs used for competitive)

- A "Pro Coach" Special event where 4 teams of similar skill level players are coached by 4 Top tier / Heavily experienced players and play against each other in a mini series. Coaches and players would get prizes.

- Super Series 3. If you liked the past series, would you like to see one with a similar format to SS1 and 2

- Pay 2 Play events IE your team pays a fee to compete, and the prize is larger and is a cash prize

- Invite League / Open League. 1 Open league for In game prize, and one invite league for a cash prize. Invite teams would be decided some by invite and some qualification spots.

- Multi Mode Competition. Just an Idea, I know CN version uses 3 modes to compete, if any interest towards a multi mode event is shown, we could try and experimental event and see how it goes

- Open gun rules. similar to CN rules where we have more relaxed gun rule set for competitive play

- Weekly News for Competitive CF. Sort of a video to tell about new teams, team splits, team changes, current events, and other Competitive CF related news

- 1v1 Ladder

- Esports separate website for Crossfire, similar to other games who have their own competitive site.

Any input is appreciated. Which events sound good, which sound bad, and do you have any suggestions of your own that are not listed?

Thanks for your input, and I look forward to bringing more competitive events to Crossfire in 2014.

  • One of the things i'd definitely like to see would be a tiered League/Ladder system, such as the ones in every other FPS I've played other than this game. It would definitely bring more of a consistent competition and hopefully more players to the game.
  • commit credit card or paypal fraud/scams to aquire money for tournaments

its how an old manager of a org i played for did it
  • Everything sounds amazing but this

That's the best suggestion he put out there.

Why would a ladder have seasons?

    Reach for the stars.

    How does this promote CF?

I have never seen more complaints on forums when winter cup and the super series events were running, how about you actually get competent staff that know what they're doing before you get ahead of yourself.

    Good luck with that.

Please explain how this idea promotes esports for cf?

Have fun spending thousands of dollars on a web designer, or better yet just use a $15 website template and claim it was designed by your web developer.
  • That's original, I'd love to see who would be in charge of news.

    pimp and carlos
    cfs gossip girls
  • good idea but some of it requires money, I doubt many comp player would actually donate haha.
  • LORDDREN would like something where u can play matches just for the record.
you accept matches on the web site, play, no rewards just records

So like a continuous scrim ladder?
  • @ Slaya

By "Season" Ladder I meant we end it every so often and have the top teams play for a prize, reset, then start a new ladder.
  • In terms of gun rules, the competitive scene seems split on whether pay 2 win guns should be allowed. At this time I wouldnt expect any major gun changes.
  • none of this matters without cash prizes. nothing will grow without cash prizes.

We are transitioning to as many cash prized events as we can in 2014, but I can tell you right now, that some of them will require a payed entrance fee. Otherwise the cash prizes will be small.

Then the competition will not grow. You can try as much as you want, but different types of competitions will do nothing. I'm not saying its easy to get funding or whatever it takes, but the amount, and level, of competition will not grow in our version without cash prizes.

yes, would love something like that.

Not even that dude, look @ slaya? Sure he might say it's the 'truth', but why automatically shut down everyone one of the proposed ideas? They are meant to try and help, shoot for it and have some fun? Lax up .. lol

Though I agree with you about the cash prizes.
  • chub isnt really shutting anything down tho, he just telling the truth.

without cash prizes, our competitive scene will remain the small amount of teams that run it now.

Some of those are pretty solid ideas, OCG just doesn't have the resources to make them work. On another note, the thread title is very misleading as only 2 of those proposed ideas would promote competitive crossfire as a whole and they are both out of reach. I think they are do-able, you just need someone like Jon to come around and provide the funding for it to happen.

That won't ever happen for CF again, only reason to play is for internats, if you wanna take it competitively.

And I thought they meant just promoting it, trying to make it better? Not necessarily by growth but by increasing the amount of tourneys/leagues etc. Making the game more fun while the community waits for LAN again, way of practice.

    ~2¢
  • Honestly, Slayas feedback is not intentionally negative. He is just stating his opinion on it, nothing wrong with that. Yes I know the title is somewhat off to what the thread is. As for resources, you are true in some aspects, that we could use more, but we do have a decent amount already we are working with. We will be doing what we can for "Cash prizes" but it isn't in any companies best interest to host a 100K Cash prize event for Crossfire yet, it will have to be a gradual thing, and we can only hope for the best. Moving forward though we are going to try and provide many cash prizes for 2014, Im just not sure the amount or how high they will be at this point in time
  • 1. A competitive Ladder (Season form or continuous) - Sure

    2. A tiered League system (Similar to what MOBAs used for competitive) - 2 and 6 are the same. Sure.

    3. A "Pro Coach" Special event where 4 teams of similar skill level players are coached by 4 Top tier / Heavily experienced players and play against each other in a mini series. Coaches and players would get prizes. - Sure

    4. Super Series 3. If you liked the past series, would you like to see one with a similar format to SS1 and 2 - Nothing to do with promoting esports, this is a league function.

    5. Pay 2 Play events IE your team pays a fee to compete, and the prize is larger and is a cash prize - Yes

    6. Invite Leage / Open Leage. 1 Open league for In game prize, and one invite league for a cash prize. Invite teams would be decided some by invite and some qualification spots. - Same as 2, yes.

    7. Multi Mode Competition. Just an Idea, I know CN version uses 3 modes to compete, if any interest towards a multi mode event is shown, we could try and experimental event and see how it goes - Nope.

    8. Open gun rules. similar to CN rules where we have more relaxed gun ruleset for competitive play - allow armor/m4a1 Silenced/xm8/scar. No spops or vip guns

    - Weekly News for Competitive CF. Sort of a video to tell about new teams, team splits, team changes, current events, and other Competitive CF related news - Yes

    - 1v1 Ladder - Sure, don't care

    - Esports separate website for Crossfire, similar to other games who have their own competitive site. - Would never work for cf, the forum is to tied together now

No one is asking for a '100k cash prize event.' There have been a grand total of ZERO events with a cash prize, with only recently (maybe the past year? could be wrong) tournaments giving out ZP prizes.

No one is asking you to run these tournaments, sir. You are taking it upon yourself to become involved in trying to grow the CF community, which is great, go for it. You are focusing your efforts in the wrong direction. The types of competition are fine, and should remain the same. Adding tournaments for other games modes (not saying you suggested this, but its been suggested in the past) will do nothing for the COMPETITIVE side of crossfire.

It is clear that the CF scene will not grow unless an organization will provide money for 1. prizes, and 2. a solid AC (ESG might have a good one?). This is obviously an issue because no organization is going to invest time and money into CF until the competitive scene grows. Slaya hit the nail on the head, you need someone like Jon to provide initial funds.

I'm simply stating the obvious so you don't waste your time down a road to no where.

Pay in tournies/leagues are a fine idea, but the organization needs to stick around for more than season, and has to listen to the people paying them money. Otherwise, why would we play?
  • Why does there HAVE to be a cash prize? Can't we just be happy with more of a consistent competition among the community instead of none whatsoever? If you're looking to make a living playing video-games I'd suggest finding a different game to play. I've played tons of other small games competitively where there is no cash prize, and its worked out just fine. Can't we just be happy that there will be legitimate competition rather than stupid weekend tournaments?

implementation of cash prizes > bigger competitive community > bigger cash prizes

    the cycle continues
  • I played CS GO for fun, I saw the dreamhack thingy, 100k Cash prize Im like wow :/ and I think they have lots of those not only this one. Valve is a bigger org, they have lots of sponsor and shiet for CS ( one of the known FPS game). CF is relatively small if we compare it to CS. Getting a sponsor is kinda hard, either way good luck. Cash or not, gaming is for fun, one day all of us not gonna play anymore just have fun now jez. You want real cash prize, leave CF go play LoL or CS GO or sth, dont expect CF to have it soon.
