22k GM Tournament

You act like only one person has to step up to host an event for Ghost Mode. Is OCG made up of one person? No.
These type of things take thought. Especially when the community is small, it takes even more thought. Thought towards the rest of the community. Not just the people we know will compete (Etherion) You really think gathering 10 people into 1 team would influence other GM pub clans (FoE, Pink~Mist) to want to sign people up? They'd rather pub with their clans.
I can think of 50 Ghost Moders on my friend list who are well rounded on both sides so don't give off excuses.
Put yourself in someone like Skyen's? shoes or the leader of Ghostyle?'s shoes.
In a perfect world I would agree with you, that's the thing. People expect too much from a normal player hosting a tournament, if dates and match-ups are an issue they should address that. If the prize is too little or not enough, they should address that. And people need to understand OCG is far from hosting another tournament of that caliber so soon, and z8 hasn't supported their unique mode for ages now. Its been a year, And 3 from a proper tournament hosted by z8.
The thing about the pub clans are, they aren't aware of tournaments, pugs and other small events. They usually get on the game to play it, not usually viewing what is on the forums. And that's just touching a small subject about pub clans, they aren't advanced in producing skilled members, they are great at having mass clan members on at the same time, and pubbing it out. If they try to venture out of that routine they can surely succeed in competitive. Perhaps not right away, but slowly and surely they can become top notch in tournaments, One advantage they have is, they can make atleast 3-5 teams and make them all participate, they have the numbers game why not use it?
Also I don't expect to use excuses, but obviously not every well rounded player is to be expected to play both sides, all players and I mean all, usually perform better on one side. No player can say "oh I can play both sides the same level of skill, and get the same amount of kills" that doesn't happen, and its certainly a negation of being part of a team where u can utilize certain people to fit one role. Instead of making them play a role where they are good at, but not great. Its why teams have team mates, and its why this tournament is allowing 10 man teams, have people play their roles, instead of a conventional tournament style. Ghost Mode isn't that blessed.
Not everything will be handed to you in a silver platter, get that through your skulls. You want to be the best GM or even a upcoming team, prove yourselves. Show up on pugs/tournaments, get known and build on from that. You have to start small, and that includes composition of the team, and participating in the events.
And I may be going of the wall here, but lets be straight up here. Wayne you came back more recently to the GM scene again, and Alex you won OCG and participated nearly all the tournaments held since Motg2. As fellow GMers, and those who play competitively ask yourselfs, is it that HARD to make a team and sign up for a tournament, play with that team and possibly win a prize. And this is all for free, nothing will cost you. So why are you both making an issue over 10 man team, or Sugoi being on a team. Those aren't going to effect you both, nor anyone else. The thing that will effect you is the fact, your making an issue over something not existent, instead of coming up with a solution over the real issue, Ghost mode is dieing, what will you do to help try to preserve it? -
' wrote:G[hostt;3802499']I've noticed that on CFLA they all seem to get along fine even when scrimming/being in the same rooms.
Even asked Pacman to spectate their match against TopGhost, and they let me.
Some of them don't, like Stealth-Pacman and Topghost-Gasparzin, but they know that if they want to turn GM into something big, they'll have to work together.
And well-rounded players on GM aren't as common as on SnD. I could name endless names of players that do far better on 1 side only. Ain't saying they can't play the opposite side at all, but that opposite side can't be compared to his usual one.
BL: Me, Ozzy, Rusty, Fer, AssasinShot, Dan, etc.
GR: SuckIt, Dag, Narwhal, Multii, Piero, Pollo, etc.
Just came up with a couple of names. Yea every single one of these players can play on their opposite site, and won't perform bad, but it can't be compared to what they do on the side they used to play on.
Ghost Mode and Search and Destory are different. People gotta stop bringing things from SnD like the way things work over there, cause they're differente modes. SnD: 1 team attacks, 1 defends. But the basics are the same, they're all using guns. On GM, playing GR and BL are completely different. 1 side requires a lot of practice with bhopping, while the other requires practice with a headset for pinpoint. Not everyone is able to practice and become well-rounded. Plus, Ping and FPS affect GM much more than SnD.
A player with high ping has almost no chance of registering as GR. A low FPS might make it impossible for someone to bhop. People have to deal with that, unfortunately, so it's not everyone who's able to become well-rounded. -
If a team of regular pubbers decided to sign up and then only see one giant stacked team, what do you think they'd do?
I mean it's kind of discouraging to sign up when the chances to win are looking pretty bleak. I'm not saying that this is the case for everyone, but gm nowadays is primarily made of pub players who really don't seem to care too much about tournaments in general. No virtual pitchforks. Just a thought.
And thank you Snake?, for doing this. -
God, so much writing. .________.
All I'm trying to say is that Sugoi hasn't quite planned this out very well regarding scheduling and the activeness of the GM community. People from the pub clans (FoE, Pink mist, Ghostyle, military) show little interest in tournaments so that knocks out a majority of GM players. Motg2 does not count, just a cw pub fest. e___________e
I'll sadly have to agree with Wayne for the most part (He's said some pretty meh stuff too but he's for the most part correct..). But please go on with your tournament. We're just throwing out criticism and stuff that you're taking so heavily...
The amount of players and the scheduling are the main problems. That is all.
Also, multiii I'm just a college student who only gets income during the summers now. If I could host a tournament, it wouldn't be with small prizes because you can clearly tell that money buys participants. (OCG, motg1 although that is a slightly different case, and motg2) But I also had the same thought in mind like Sugoi in the past, I just saw no reason for me to continue on past the planning stage.
To Z, the Brazilian community is better in general.............. >.< Have you seen the S&D community lately? They're just as bad off as us, and they've got trips to China on the line. -
10 players is fine, you test and trial things in life otherwise things become stale.
I respect and applaud Snake?'s efforts with these tournements, we're lucky that there is someone willing to do this in such a small, somewhat chaotic, community.
Christmas break is being kind to me lately, so I will make a team and enjoy the matches for what they are. Hopefully I'll be back later today or tomorrow with the roster. -
The purpose of tournament is to gather the gm community together to play a game. It is so that people can experience what its like to play competitively, to play against someone stronger or equal of skill, to improve themselves as a player, to test their abilities in a tough situation, to play on a balance rule set, to have fun and make friends, and to grow as a community.
I'm not asking much, all you guy have to do is show up in 1 weekend of the month to play. This time of year, people most likely be on winter vacation which is why it looked like a great time. The 10 member team is so teams' have enough players to play because captains kept asking me to change members. I'm hosting this tournament because no one else is hosting a gm tournament for me to play in it. I find myself to be a very easy target for anyone to kill. People shouldn't be discourage just because one team is stacked. Anything could happen, its just falls down to whom made the mistake first.
Keep in mind, this is a free tournament and the prize is a bonus. I would like to see a tournaments where there is an entree fee which goes toward the pot. At the end it would split up the pot to something like 50/30/20.
If the gm community doesn't take that step in supporting what is available, chances are there will be less event from Z8 and OCG. We need to prove to them that we want more ghost mode tournaments and events. -

People don't play Ghost Mode competitively. They play it for fun. When they see the words "tournament" "prize" "10man team from a ghostmode clan" What fun is there for them? Why don't you look at this realistically instead of what you want it to be.
If I gathered 9 other people for this, you would still only have 2 teams in this event. If your goal is for z8 or OCG to host another tournament, then my best suggestion to you is to plan and host something that you know will actually work.
If people already play ghost mode for fun without a prize, yet they don't play in your "for fun" tournament, that says something.
Here's an idea, gather roughly 10 people to create and Ghost Mode League, who will help pitch in 10-20kzp each to help fund a tournament. Decide upon a rule set you KNOW the majority of pubstars will want to play with. Give the tournament more of a heads up rather than 2 weeks. Advertise your tournament in advance.
I'm all for helping the GM community.. correctly. -
If what you want is to gather the GM community, gather them into one room as you would in fox 5. If what you want is to add competition + prize, gather those players into a ventrilo/mumble/teamspeak room.
From there, you get people actively playing competitively with each other.
Play your part in Etherion and go to clan server. -
I'm willing to put some money down for a bigger prize, but we should bring back Fox5 pugs till more Gmers feel comfortable with this ruleset, and go from there.
I know for fact that PinkMist wants to get into the competitive "scene" if we host fox5 pugs some of them may show up as well.

Take out the boosting rule and they might not. -
I made Fox5 Pugs for people to start playing competitively in a whole channel server, but usually we had one full room, but people didn't grasp the reason why I hosted them. So people can venture out and make pub rooms and follow the set rules. Having a mirror version of echo 8 from snders. But for gm instead. That would be the big boost which the community would need. Running multiple rooms that are pro gp ruleset.

Should give it another try see if this time people get it right. -

Would they now? I dunno about you but I haven't really seen any pink mist members in a tournament yet.
They must have lives as well. God wish I could fix my schedule around a tournament with nothing on the line. =.= -
Damn you guys have too much time to be writing these long as fook responses. Dont you guys have finals or studying for them this week or the next???????????????????????????????
Just face the average gm player when starting to play gm was about 16( or at least the people whom i played with) its been 4 years now and they all had to grow up, get a job, and go to college. Oh and lets not forget about other games that can replace a poorly maintained one like this one. Oh, well shouldn't argue just play when you can. Pubs can be fun sometimes . -

Bird played on Incurs acc and he did pretty well against etherion even tho he wasn't too comfortable.
Fer,Legend and I didn't make excuses when we missed the Sunday match lol..
-
One person. Yea.............
Before match, all I did was say that we're missing too many people and we can't play. Now, I'm pretty much saying the same thing except added on to the fact there was nothing in it for us if we participated or not. I really don't see any excuses.
But one thing's for sure, I'm not getting known as Zach's bish. >.> -

Just wanted to comment on this, I subbed the last tourney and I have no problem with playing competitively. Piero asked if I wanted to join a team for this one but I declined. I talked to Sky about this one and he was fine with it. We have members that wanna make a team but the only reason we aren't is because we have people that are inactive. It doesn't have anything to do with Etherions "stacked" team, which I pretty much know how the occult boys play anyways. If we had the people me and Crude would start a team in a heartbeat. -
