Laptop recommendation?
Hey, I'm looking for a laptop with a great cpu that can run CF at max fps, render videos, and any other intensive processes. The bigger the screen, the better I suppose. I've heard that buying one and then upgrading ram/ssd can be better, but I'm not sure. Does anybody have any good knowledge/experience on this?
Thanks,

Hmm, I don't mind playing at 1024x768 or lower on any game, but 16:9 would be a bonus. I want to use an external monitor when I am using it at home. As for the budget, about $1000 or less would be nice. As long as it's worth the price, then it's fine. Thanks. -

You won't get 120hz with an external monitor. -

(HDMI revision 1.4b)
No hdmi is capable of supporting 120hz unless anything has changed in the past 2 months. It might say that it's 120hz capable, but it's really not. Have you actually tried it yourself? -

i know people who have tried it, but with 120hz laptop screens, but there is supposed to be hdmi 1.4b revision coming out soon or has? i believe this will allow 1080p/120hz, so newer laptops will be able to support 1.4b even if they have 60hz monitors. -
Or you could just plug it into the vga/dvi port to get 120? Who would go through hdmi rofl.

Fyi, your not going to get a 17.3 inch screen with capabilities to render/intense process in a laptop for under 1k. -
This is the newer version of what I use. Mine has the ATI 5870 graphics card and I get 200 fps all day with it. The bad thing's about it are its very heavy ( though the newer ones seem to be lighter) and it isnt easy to find a good bag to carry it in.
