Dear mods

How come something like '2014 LAN Confirmed' can stay open when it provides 0 information whatsoever when '2015 LAN Confirmed' that provides more information has to be closed?

What's even funnier is I had cooperation with 2 of the larger lan event groups in st. louis.

It's just maximum disrespect towards you, it seems to me the forums are about to die with this version of the game.
  • maybe cause its still 2013 and 2015 is tooo too far away :? idk

    That's what I thought too.

    But you knoww, cf logic.
  • A few reasons, here's my reasoning:

    1. JP played a large role in organizing last year's LAN, and had previously expressed interest in another one. This inherently gives his claim more validity.

    2. JP's thread was the first made, whereas a crap ton of threads came after with the intent of mocking JP's thread. This brings their validity down to pretty much 0, requiring more "proof" of actual intent other than being a parody.

    3. Even if JP's thread was just created to hype up the idea of a LAN, the thread has served a purpose of just being a place to discuss the concept, as well as discussing other miscellaneous topics In my opinion it's good to have a "casual discussion" thread every so often in the competitive section. Considering the thread wasn't incredibly serious in the first place, it's a good opportunity to get some of that in.

Essentially it comes down to intent and outcome. If one of the threads that was closed/removed was just caught up in the rest of the faux-threads, then feel free to PM me with some proof of intent and I'll be happy to reverse w/e happened to it.
  • i had seen player has problem vs player now it's players vs mods woohooo. CF is getting more competitive hahahahaha

    denxi the detective.
  • my theory was posted in doop's thread and i still think it holds some validity and truth to it
  • I would like to see Doops thread open too
  • I find it pathetic that they close threads that are just plain meant to joke around on. We have mods here who have never scrimmed in their life. They act like this is actually a serious section of the forums. It was funner when we could talk shit and get away with it, it made the competitive scene more fun and competitive.

Snipes is correct in everything he just said.

The thread itself IS the joke. The fact that it was just closed and not deleting means the joke still exists. It's the RESPONSES to said joke that aren't relevant and just serve to bump it.

There's not issue with talking crap to people, as long as it's actually ABOUT THE GAME. The issue arises when people start trying to insult people based of life stuff. Find me a situation where you haven't been able to talk crap about someone's skill.

Unless you're actually complaining about the fact that you can't call someone an ugly fat fat. If that's the case, how the hell do you figure that makes things more competitive? No one in their right mind thinks that by beating someone in CrossFire they're somehow getting back at them for calling them a virgin.
  • I aint no competitive player soo im just just gonna grab the popcorn and watch people try (undoubtedly unsuccessfully) prove Denxi wrong.

Actually you can see people talking about other people's skill, but the mods still close it because they think it's unsportsmanlike or something.

I know for a fact if someone starts calling someone "virgin" or "fat", they would want to make said person more angry. I don't know what you're talking about "getting back at them" when this is just a game. But if people try to say shit to me it just motivates to frag them. I guess this is my own instinct, some people here probably just take it like chumps.

According to you, because Denxi is a mod, he is smarter then everyone else?
  • According to you, because Denxi is a mod, he is smarter then everyone else?

Judging from what i have read, and i do not know the backstory or anything that has led up to this thread, Denxi has proven anyone and everyone wrong... so just based of this thread (and i could be wrong) I believe he has more valid and standard points than anyone who has commented.

Do i believe he is smarter than everyone, no.

And not once did i say it was because he was a mod, more because he thinks and thoroughly reads each comment before posting. Maybe some people could learn from this, myself included.

proving someone wrong doesn't mean you are smarter than the said person.
  • Why not have a few people who are active and respected in the community, make another forum. Admin it and advertise it?

Works well for the competitive sections of sf1 (when it was alive), and sf2.

Again i didnt state that he was smarter than ANYONE. I said he has had more valid points than those who he has replied to.

My comment still stands that he thoroughly reads and thinks before he posts.

@suko That seems to be a marvelous idea.

Whelp, I know I've never removed any valid trash talking, so I can't speak much more on the subject.

As for personal attacks, I know they make people angry, just like attacking their skill level. However, there's a way to "get back at them" when they attack your skill; out frag them. The retaliation options for responding to a personal attack on the forums are a lot more limited, and end up with a bunch of useless back and forth that never translates over into the actual game. It just clogs up the forums.

I'm not knocking the idea, but mind informing me as to why they made another forum? The official SF competitive forums were essentially never moderated in the first place.

They wanted their own place I guess, not sure. I wasn't around for sf1.

and yeah, I believe it could be useful. There would still be moderation, but it would be by the players, for the players. That sort of thing, haha. I mean I believe most of the competitive cf community doesn't get super offended by the cuss words, and it would lighten it up if there was some off-topic threads. Noting that I assume @threads or anything porn related etc would be removed.

    just my 2c.

No I know, like I said I'm not knocking it, I was just curious as to why it happened in the SF community.

I realized you asked that, and I edited my post. Like I said, I'm not sure, didn't play sf1.

actually in the old sf, everyone used clanchat.tk for competitive section and it just links to ijji.

I hope this version of the game dies
  • I believe that trash talking such as "You're bad kid" Or "You're such a nub". "You suck at CF." Like trash talking releating to Cross Fire makes sense and I dont' have a huge problem with it. But direct insults such as "You're fat" or "You're a virgin kid shut up". That's not relevant to the game and how they play so why are those comments needed?

In general trash talking shouldn't be needed but I believe it does make things a little more intense and interesting. But random insults on the individual that directly relate to how he / she looks, sounds, or anything about them and not how they play is not needed. Just what I think.

    dont be mean

true words, even though i have the voice and looks of a god

insults related to cf are funny, and you can easily brush em off.
keep all the other **** to yourself
