He has never played for an above average team, and he hasn't even been on in a month so he doesn't give a sh1t about the game. Please log in and see how the game is now.
The only reason I'm responding to this is because it's a good way to finalize it. Anything other threads or posts about this specific matter are almost certainly gonna get deleted. Use them PMs.
Pubs have little to do with competitive play. Discussing the state of pub games in the competitive forum is valid if you're going to talk about how it affects the competitive community. Aero's post is a perfect example of valid discussion. My knowledge of the state of public games has nothing to do with me being a competitive forum mod, and even if it did, at no point did I ever say that the hackers were not an issue. I am MORE than happy to acknowledge the issue, and I did so on multiple occasions in the closed thread.
I don't care about the game? I've taken multiple breaks from playing CF in the past, and both times I never "stopped caring." Just because I'm playing other games doesn't mean I've "abandoned" CF.
As for my qualifications for a competitive mod, they are as follows:
- Helped foster the competitive scene (was on one of the first 4 teams to play CF competitively)
- Played competitively for the majority of CF's existence (the couple exceptions being the three total breaks from playing CF, that totals to about 4-5 months.)
Let's ignore the laundry list of other crap and focus on the one thing that's relevant; I understand the competitive community. I understand how people think, I understand how conflicts develop, and I understand the differences between moderating a competitive community and moderating a public community.
The one valid criticism would be that I haven't been as active as I should be being; I'd agree with that and I'm planning on fixing it.
It seems this was brought on by my closing of your thread regarding people hacking in pubs. So my question to you, Pimp, is what were you hoping to accomplish? The way I processed it was as follows:
1. Ok, he's posting this in the Competitive section, obviously there's a reason for it. It seems that that reason is to discuss how people cheating in pubs affects the competitive community. That's a completely valid reason.
2. His main post is using flawed logic, stating that hacker free pubs are required for competitive players to "warm-up". This is irrelevant for X reasons, I'll respond telling him that and redirecting him towards a more valid reason to discuss this issue in the competitive section.
The rest of the first part of the thread was made of valid posts clarifying ideas, as well as Aero bringing up the biggest issue, and Saidin responding to your initial suggestion and giving his own insight.
Soon after that, the thread was initially done. It was completely valid discussion, and went fine. I thought the question you asked had been resolved.
But then it turns out I was wrong. A couple days later, you bump the thread with this: http://forum.z8games.com/showpost.php?p=3755005&postcount=49
Here's where my query becomes relevant Pimp. What did you want as a response? What do you think is going to happen? Do you think Saidin has a magic "No Cheaters?" switch, and he just forgot to flip it? Saidin already told you why your original suggestion wasn't viable, so what else where you wanting from him?
The only conclusion I can come to is that you're angry with the current situation in CF, and that you felt the best way to vent was to berate the person you hold responsible. And you know what? It's fine to be angry. Being upset about the situation is GOOD. It can help motivate change. But you need to understand that what you're doing, that being posting baseless inflammatory posts is helping nobody, not even yourself. How likely do you think it is that people are going to take you seriously when you post stuff like this? That looks straight up like you're trolling. Do you actually expect Saidin to read that and go "Hmm, yes, this has convinced me to flip the 'No-Cheaters' switch"? Because I'd be willing to bet that that isn't what's going through his head.
When you talk to people like that, you close them off from you. You give them the impression that all you care about if ****ing them off. And why shouldn't they think that? Here they are, trying to deal with a situation as best they can, and when some entitled punk comes on the forums and starts ****ting on them for no conceivable reason. And even AFTER they took the time to respond to his question the best they could.
If you can't understand the issue with the way you're communicating, there's not much I can tell you. I really don't think you're just trolling because you like it, because from my experience with you you're a better, more reasonable person than that Pimp.
