    Because Montreal FTW!
If anyone is going to attend it and need players, tell me, i might join it ;D

We still haven't decided the amount of tourneys that the event will contain. This poll contain more choices than the actual official tourneys at Lan ETS. Also, this poll contains pc and consoles games.

Many factors other then this poll will be taken in count in our choice of tourney. The goal of this poll is to have feedback from the players and their interests.

This is what an official of the Lan ETS said for you non-french speakers (My translation isn't the best)
  • If Crossfire does get voted in, as many teams as possible should show up. Especially people who haven't been to a LAN before, the first one would be great at LAN ETS. Overall showing up will support Competitive Crossfire in the future .
  • Im glad that people are interested in CrossFire to grow and expand but we need more than just words. So far CFNA is just all talk and no show.

Some of the things people have said on the LAN ETS Forum is sad. 1 post said "More votes for CrossFire, than viewers for the stream". And another wrote "101 votes? Only 2 teams for WCG hahaha".

Although the WCG comment can be argued against, the post about the viewers for our streams is too true. If we REALLY care about the growth of CF then we need to support everything about it, from Tournaments, Drafts, LAN's and even streams.

There will be some things worked on the improve the OCG match of the week Stream this Saturday. I would also want more support for all CF streams Leagues and/or Players channels.
  • Around 4 Canadian teams and the lan is hosted in Montreal? JP complaining about viewers on stream. Matches like undaunted vs piano isn't gonna make people wana tune it. Matches like kanata and socks will grab in viewers.

I agree with what you said about how CrossFire is an all talk no show game. "Only 2 teams for WCG hahaha" this could easily be fixed by having more teams being invited to participate, I'm positively sure that teams would actually show up for WCG LAN who wouldn't?

Another thing, you guys probably already know this, but the reason the CF Competitive Community isn't any bigger than it's been for the past 2 years is because whenever "new" competitive people come to play this game, they notice that CF has a bad reputation for cheaters in almost every pub. This is also a reason why people that still play CF are starting to quit is because for the past 2 years, the community has been told constantly that changes have and are being made to improve the CF experience. A lot of people have just lost hope thats why people on the LAN ETS and anywhere else are laughing about CF being ahead in votes but it's also a good thing for us competitively no doubt

I can see what you're saying but this is another reason why the community is still small, not giving other teams besides maybe the top 3-5 teams in the game views to boost their confidence as a team to improve so they can become a top tier team

We cannot expect our top teams to play each other on a weekly bases. Need to support ALL teams and stop being biased
  • Montreal is probably the worst place to draw a large number of teams for CF. If the prize pool is under 5k its not even worth it. We have to cart our PCs across the country, and pay 3k as a team to get there, so Idk why any USA team would be motivated to go, unless the prize pool becomes 5-10k higher
  • Positive energy, how can we have a positive outcome with negative thoughts? Most people who are speaking poorly about Crossfire have no idea what the situation is regarding the competitive development. They also make up some random statistics about how the game is not improving over the years.

Crossfire is absolutely huge in China, Brazil, Philippines and many more countries as it gets more
and more popular. It is our turn in NA to do something, LAN ETS is not that one big selling ticket or do or die LAN for the game. However It is something that will help Crossfire become more well known and competitive. At the moment we have the most votes out of any game in this ETS poll. That is because we were able to share the information and have the desire for this game to become more popular. We have players that are voting and probably would not even show up to the LAN but the numbers and support is what counts.

Just remember, It is much easier said than done.
  • I hope cf won't get picked cuz the game is awful. So much cheaters almost 99%

You do realize it's a BYOC event? I wonder what you would be saying if you lived in like Florida.
  • The votes for crossfire are so deceiving. We have people voting from Egypt who aren't even going to show up.. and don't even play competitive crossfire. They just voted cause this thread was posted in barracks.

So true. My team lives in, Vancouver, Kansas, DC, Texas, NC, and Nevada lol. Taking our computers across the country for 3k to compete for 5k seems kind of pointless. We need a more centralized LAN like chicago or something thats not unreasonable and BYOC for Montreal CF even is silly. Even if my team could go none of us want to bring our PCs 1,000 miles or more, they might get damaged or broken. Good Idea, but bad location
  • If you can't afford it, then you simply can't go. Don't make a whole argument about it, be happy that an organization actually took the time to add YOUR game to the polls.

Voted, hopefully it turns out good once (if) CrossFire is picked up.

I CAN afford it, Im saying what is the purpose if 1st place gets me my money back I spent for the trip and thats it? It may get voted in, but due to BYOC and Location I wouldnt expect more than 8 teams tops.

Was actually trying to refer to someone else.. but your point has a good idea behind it.
  • I don't really have much time anymore, but I wanted to give my two cents on this issue.

    ______________

Vote! Tell your friends, tell your family, get them involved. The more people who vote, the more attention the game gets. No matter who shows up, attention for the game is good for the competitive community. The more people exposed to the game, the more people there are who will keep watching its streams. Who will keep supporting the events hosting it. You can't like what you've never seen.

    ______________

Take a game whose community I've been a proud member of for going on 8 years now. Super Smash Bros Melee.

A fairly popular game, and had its heyday back in the 07-08 days. It went all the way to the main stage of MLG, before "dying" almost completely. The competitive scene consisted of perhaps 100 people, all spread out around the country. The game is pre-internet console as well, so you can imagine how tough that was.

Slowly, completely user-run, non-company supported events regrew. From 100-man majors, to 200. To a new benchmark of 400, to 500. Streams of majors began, exponentially growing from 1K-2K viewers, to more than 50 thousand. Players would have fundraisers by fans for plane rides, hotel fees, and even food. One player recently had a 3,500 dollar fundraiser (from the community) just to get flown to Europe to compete in their tournaments. The community raised 25,000 dollars for a Kickstarter for a documentary about the game (it's an 8-part series! episode 1 premieres tomorrow at twitch.tv/vgbootcamp , but you can watch the pilot already.

And just this year, the game found its way all the way back to the biggest fighting game stage in the world: EVO.

Several months before EVO, the hosts of EVO created a Facebook Poll to determine the games to use. Melee crushed it by more than 25,000 votes. EVO, who had contractual obligations with their lineup already, and thought the poll would be more of a hype-up than an actual "let's see who plays", compromised. "We'll do a fundraiser. Whichever community can raise the most money by the end of this month will get a spot on our gaming roster. We'll create an extra spot for them."

In one month, the Melee community raised over 90,000 dollars. At EVO, Melee again surprised everyone, breaking all previous EVO viewership records by the thousands.

Hell, Melee's competitive scene is so abandoned by Nintendo that they tried to shut down the stream, just because they disapprove of competition. And yet...heh.

People on this forum have time and time again shot down the little things: "What do pubstars have to do with the competitive scene", "We need to grow us, not involve them", "Lol it all starts with big cash prizes, without that nothing matters".

More than 550 people signed up for Smash Bros. at EVO 2013, many travelling across state lines or international lines to do so. Perhaps 8 of them had even a remote chance at winning.

You want to see how to improve the community? Look at the people who have done things right, and emulate them.
