My thoughts on WCG USA 2013
Hey guys, just wanted to share a few of my thoughts on the recent 2013 WCG USA LAN Finals from this past weekend.
First of all, what an event. I said it on the stream, and I will say it here too. The match we saw between Socks and Carbon in the finals was THE BEST match in CF NA history, hands down. I can't think of a single match that can even come close to comparing. The amount of heart and drive that the players from both teams showed in that finals match was amazing. There was so much pressure and so much on the line for those guys, and to see them both fight until literally the last round, was absolutely incredible. Either team could have taken it there at the end, and I feel as though either team could have represented the US on the international stage very well. Although GoldenBoy and I were exhausted from casting all day, and especially that marathon at the end, we were both still incredibly excited to be casting such a great match. My hat goes off to both teams, for a match that will never be forgotten, and will go down in the history books for CF.
Another thing I would like to say, is that it was awesome being able to meet the players from Welfare, as well as being able to see some of my old friends again from Socks and Carbon. I must say that it was an absolute pleasure being able to meet Christian (Saidin) in real life as well. Him and I actually went out for some sushi after the matches on Friday with Zach from ESS, Alex GoldenBoy, and Frank (the other caster/interviewer), and I had a hell of a time with them. Saidin is quite the funny guy, and it was a treat being able to meet him. For those of you that have never been to a LAN event before, it is honestly one of the coolest things being able to meet the people you have been talking to and playing video games with for years on the computer. For some of the guys that I go way back with, it seems like we have known each other in real life for years. It is so cool to be able to finally put faces to names, and create memories with these people that you'll never forget. Sorry for getting all cheesy and weird, but that is the honest truth. I consider many of you guys some of my good friends, and I honestly like you a lot more than people I know in real life. I hope you all take care, and hopefully I'll be seeing you guys at some LAN events in the coming year.
In closing, this years WCG USA LAN Finals was such an awesome experience. I have furthered my broadcasting career, and I couldn't have gotten to where I am today without the help of all of you guys out there. Your continuous support over the years is very much appreciated. I hope that you guys enjoyed watching the event, and I can't wait to cast the next one. Good luck to Socks over in China, and I hope you boys from Carbon keep your heads up, because you all played a hell of a match, and fought to the end. You also kept your class about you, and all that being said, you have nothing to be ashamed of. Thanks again to both teams for an awesome match. See you all on a stream sometime soon!
