Remove the IP from forumers.

The Suggestion is : Removing the IP ( not showing our IP to MODS ) Especially to MODS , GM's are allowed to see our IP but i think its kinda weird to know a MOD knows your IP and tells to other people or anything else...

Opinions please , i want to know what you guys think about it. Imo its just wrong. Mods know where you live...

I'm pretty sure IP information is enclosed to the rest of the public community...

As moderators themselves, they know more than what to do, but also what to not do.

It's not like they're going to leave their homes one day and travel to wherever we all live and pay us a visit. =D

Its more like they can give our IP to other people which may hate me / you / specific person.

If someone really cared they could get your IP through Skype or a few other programs that leave access to way too many people.

What would we do with an IP anyway? I say we, being the whole community in general, I doubt that half of them know anything to do with it or would break the law to DDoS someone anyway.

Apparently a MOD told me someones IP whilst I was away on HOLIDAY. Which could of been impossible, because I was on holiday, away from the forums and the MOD who apparently gave me it.

Anyway, any you can get anyone's IP through a VOIP or Skype, it's not exactly hard.

I think you missed my second statement here. Moderators are volunteers, but I think they know, once again, what to do and what to not do.

When have they leaked any user's IP information? The last time I've seen "IP" used was when someone was using alts to spam or something and a certain moderator (forgot who it was) told us how he found out his IP and banned him or something. I'm sure they can easily find out what our IP is and where we live but still not violate policies and cross boundaries.

IP's are used to see of anyone is using alt accounts.

All I could think of....but really I doubt mods will give away such info.
Most mods imo seem to be reasonable people and don't let them self be "infected" by others stupidity.

1) Mods are trusted (Yes they can abuse but have picked as trusted).

2) Mods need to see IP's to moderate the forum and ban multiple troll accounts etc.

3) IP's don't gave an exact address.

4) Nobody would be interested in visiting you anyway.

If someone hates you enough to go see a mod, ask for your address and goes take physical revenge on you, then something is very wrong.

The mods seems like good people. I think they also don't live in one country and some are too young to drive. I doubt they'll go on a bus with a knife to your address, knock on your door, you don't know them so you take a weapon and open the door, they attack, you fight, and hope that the mods aren't about that thug lifezzzz

Can you elaborate the backstory to this suggestion? It seems out of the blue. Most vBulletin boards have a "view IP" function as a standard moderating tool.

I think that YOU seem to worry about a certain mod?

[MOD]Nonnens name written all over this. He talks behind GM's backs god knows what he's doing on the forums. They shouldn't remove the function only monitor the MODs who are constantly checking without reason.
