Crossfire Academy Introduction

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnLsv0iGiXQ&feature=c4-overview&list=UUP4Aytn1OnGbfEC2b84PZiw

Hey guys as described in this video the North American scene in Crossfire is struggling to grow and this is just my two cents and first baby steps into advancing it to become a more respected game in the North American scene by bringing in professionalism and improving the overall skill of players who are looking to learn ! It is about time we have some people step up from this community and try advancing forward and putting in some effort into becoming like Brazil, China, Philippines, Vietnam and all these other countries with Crossfire having their own media coverage, etc. Remember these video tutorials is just the first step there is no way I can just magically in a week or two transform this community, so be patient and work with me.

Subscribe to keep updated on the video series and how I plan to make Crossfire a more welcoming and competitive place.

If it's Toronto again I'll be there :)

Getting smacked by China is normal, sure the goal should be to eventually challenging their reign, but one year of renaissance in NA isn't going to threaten China.

Only time our version has been completely dominated (from what I remember) is when hammertime lost like 10-1 on subbase in the finals

All the other times, it's been pretty close
  • Making videos isn't a bad idea. But just sitting behind a camera with no follow up action will only get you so far. You have to integrate yourself with pub communities and make them take interest in the game on a level you do.
  • I wish you the best of luck. Not going to hurt to try something new. Best of luck!

Everyone, I appreciate your support and I'm going to take this step by step hopefully try and help crossfire out, like said before this is just the first step I find this to be one of the best starting methods because videos are great way to teach a lot more people at once and get more people involved. Let's work together and see what we can do if we actually try and do something.

hope you took my idea into concideration!!
  • I think one of the big issues is by z8's part they have the power to make announcements and put up pages on start-up. I guarantee one of the problems there is less interest in competitive is that 50% of the NA scene has no idea about prizes china tournaments lans.... We have no "competitive server" it's e8 so they can't really find it.. Should be changed, need more advertisement, our own server, and our own mode with restrictions and wcg round set like clan server.
  • This is a pretty cool guide in stuff.
Maybe get some tips from him Ayrin.
On how to do your videos.

This is actually not a bad idea what so ever.

I think actually having a server named "Competitive Server" is the foundation for teams to come in and play competitive. At this point, we have set the standards for teams who play competitively. We need to work on expanding that standard to players who would be interested in coming in.

By that standard, creating the format and rules. Go into Channel 8 and ask around for a 5v5 Search & Destroy match. Once you do that, creating a room with 7 or 9 rounds, 1st person view & password protected. You agree to rule set, (OCG, ESG, WCG, or CF Stars) and go from there.

The only issue I could see with presenting something like this to [GM]Saidin is deterring people from using Clan Server to play matches.

Once people see "Competitive Server", it will create curiosity amongst other players. If and when they could do something like this, they should have a full announcement and post explaining the purposes behind it. People will want to know what its about. This is just an idea and if people want to expand on it to see what we can come up with!

Thanks! Agreed!! We need to raise awareness of the competitive scene with in the game if we want to see it grow. I think CF annoucing official vlogs and frag videos of things like WCG LANs and CF Stars would also help interest the community!

Another problem that won't be addressed, unlike the other versions that our only their country NA allows many different areas, why is it even named NA. If this is truely CF NA why don't we restrict it to Canada/USA/Mexico, the base is 75% not north american and the competitons are. That is another problem.

I bet more people quit then start playing there is so many cheaters, we need a new system to prevent them. The competitive scene will go to be like the Clean Server with all the cheaters if something isent done.

I WISH that CF would start pay2play, a simple $10 per account created would stop the main amount of cheaters within a few months...

  • Also It would be pretty cool to ban stuff. Like in a Scrim or whatever.
In COD you can ban things so both teams cant use it. Which would be cool so you can like ban Armour then they cant equip it at all.

Totally agree. They need to make a Competitive server with the current rules in the cf meta.

Which prohibits characters and guns that aren't allowed. Takes away the shorter defuse thing. No items and things like that. Also there should some way to track stats.

Should be an easier way to find scrims instead of spamming 5 in the lobby. Sort of like clan server maybe?
  • Guys,

This is healthy discussion and is great to see people are willing to change it up.
  • I support the competitive server idea 100%. I see games like CS:GO, League of Legends and DotA all with huge followings. Each of these games have some sort of competitive match making along with casual.

If CrossFire NA could integrate something like that into the system that would make a HUGE difference in competition from the very start. Not saying go all out and create a match making system but a stand alone server for starters would be extremely helpful
  • With a competitive server, comes the undeniable debating of rules:

Will there be gun rules / if so what will they be?

Right now their are some guns with obvious restrictions and others that could go either way.

    Will AC be allowed?

Some people feel like nobody should have it, others feel due to the impact of nades on the game AC should be given to everyone.

Will there be a matchmaking integrated system?

Will we be able to auto find scrims? or continue to spam 5 until one is found?

Will Character Models be banned even though there is no hitbox difference?

Will There be a new ranking system for the competitive server?

Will it have the same host location?

Will it have a more advanced AC system required for play ? / or will players have the same hacking issues as they already do?

How hard will it be for Crossfire to make Armor, Gun, Character, Nade, and equipment restrictions that can be automatically enforced?

Will the competitive scene grow or decay as a result of this new server?

Will leagues use the server for competitive events if they don't agree with the rules of the new competitive server?

All in all I think it can be done, but not without deciding some important things first. I know I ramble, I just over think things a bit sometimes. I am for it, but it has to be approached the right way.
  • This will be great. Being able to scroll between different rule sets for each match. A server like this should help competitive be more organized. maybe switch one of the servers that isn't being used into a competitive server.

    +1
