Im a new player coming from AVA with my team looking to tryout crossfire and was wondering how many leagues support crossfire, and does z8Games care about the competitive scene?

Quite a few past leagues. WOGL, ESL, CFL, lots of others I can't remember.
Current leagues OCG(just ended season 1), WCG (world wide LAN), ESG(coming soon)

Z8 supports OCG currently and has supported many leagues and small tournaments.

Couple LANs have been held including a LAN in Toronto a few months ago which went very well also the WCG LAN in china last year and this year.

So basically just OCG for weekly/monthly tournament? Does WOGL ESL still host tournaments for CF or was CF discontinue?

OCG has more tournaments in the making, ESG is prepping for a launch tournament. WOGL and ESL no longer support CF as far as I know.

There are many other user ran tournaments going on right now. Matters your preference.
Fall Cup is a full competitive tournament.
Kings of Clan Server is for Clan Server clans to compete in.
Golden cup is for pub clans.
OCG is also in the works of making a Ghost Mode tournament and holds Ghost Mode drafts on certain days.
Getting into the competitive scene there are also many PUGs being held.

The competitive scene mostly plays in echo-8, matches, 1v1's, few pubs, etc.
I call it ego-8 if that answers your question.

AVA people play that jk but yea This game is dope I recently came back to the game. Its fun make sure you check out Echo server Channel 8 Thats were most competitive people are.
Just look out for hackers.

A lot of leagues/cups going on right now.

OCG sign ups just started (Ok league, needs to fix some things but z8games is sponsoring them and the prize pool is 3,000,000 zp)

WCG is this weekend I believe (Winner of online qualifier goes to LAN, winner at LAN goes to China and competes with other versions)

cf stars will be starting later in the year (1 team from each CF version goes to China and is guaranteed a cash prize. Don't remember how much first place got :c)

And then there's a lot of cups going on right now like Summer cup and Fall cup, and probably a bunch others.

The community (unless it's changed since last time I played) isn't terrible. There are some really stupid, ignorant people that only talk shit, but I'd say they're a minority.

"Competitive channel" is echo8, spam 5 in lobby to find a scrim. Games are 7 rounds, 1st person view, 2 halves etc. Ruleset is just regular guns (no zp or crate guns, no M12s or scar light) etc.
