Ps3

is it worth getting a ps3 right now, i know ps4 is coming out soon, but sony said they would support ps3 till 2016, i had some car parts in my garage that i was getting rid of and a guy offered his ps3 as a trade + cash, was just curious on your opinions of the console, i haven't played console games since ps1 was out, i am a big fan of sony products, spend thousands on cameras and lenses

  • Multiplayer games on the ps3 will die out pretty soon, but if you plan on playing some single player games then go right ahead.
  • Are the car parts worth anything? How much cash is he offering? Any games he is going to throw in as well?

If you we're getting rid of the parts anyways might as well get some cash.
  • PS3 was the only console I would have ever paid for.
  • yeah it's a ford f150 catalytic converter for a 2010, they had extras at my work so i took one home, they are about 600 new, i don't own an f150 so i am getting rid of it, he is giving me the ps3+3 controllers+5 games and $400

only games i expect to play is bf3/bf4 for online play and the rest offline, only problem i have is i heard that the ps4 plays bf4 with 64 players online versus the 24 on ps3 and runs it at 60 fps
  • Gut that CAT and get that precious metal out of it. Sells for a good value. :P
  • Go for it, your getting rid of it one way or another.
  • It`s worth it in my opinion. I mostly play Sports games on it or exclusive titles like Uncharted and The Last of Us, which aren`t available on pc.

When you`re used to the precise behaviour of mouse and keyboard, playing shooters on a console will most possibly make you go berserk and kill many many non-pixel people.
  • When will ps4 come out? If between 13-14 then you will lose the online gamemode fast. But i've no idea, that's all i can say.

And as for the ps3, make sure it's still working and worth the trade. ;)

    ^^^^

the ps3 exclusives are great, and them alone makes it worth the investment.

metal gear solid 4, all uncharteds (any naughty dog game for that matter), killzone(s), etc
  • Not worth it.

There is no point in having a console especially when a new one is coming in a couple of months.

The maybe say the will support it till 2016 but that is mostly just patches/fixes for the software and not if the do claim that then I can tell you the majority depends on the developers and I doubt the are porting there newer releases to a older type of console and especially since it's not worth it because of the differences in the hardware and software.

So that will not help the PS3 at all.(Same with the xbox 360 but the difference is the got microsoft behind them so the got money to pay devs to port games and sony just doesn't have that money)

it`s pretty much up to personal taste. there are a few gems out there, which can be very enjoyable over a long period of time. If I wasn`t that lazy and if
Atari/Nintendo- Emulators wouldn`t exist, hell, I`d still free some space in my flat for the old sir to sit.:D

ps2 console production stopped only a few years ago and they were still producing games for it, as far as i know FIFA 14 is coming out for PS2 late summer

It sold 100m unites in 6 years compared to 80m unites in 7 years to the PS3
So ya PS2 had a good and large user base but really look at the releases for the PS2 in the couple of years it you will see a pattern of the 40 or so released games in the past 4 years.

Good support but it was nothing more than last bits of money squeezed out of the yearly released games
