I didn't know he was old enough to have pubic hair. He sure as hell didn't act like it.

i was formatting an old hard drive from my old pc and scanning it with a recovery program to see if it actually deleted everything, i managed to recover this and a bunch of other stuff, apparently windows format isn't reliable, i had a bunch of sensitive work files but for some reason i thought i deleted this a long time ago, none the less a good read

To my understanding only way to truly get rid of a HDD and its files(Footprints) is to toss it into a foundry and melt it. They do have software to retrieve files even after numerous Formats. So just when you think its good. It isn't.

I use eraser. http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-hard-drive-eraser.htm
takes some time for bigger files, but if you just want to get rid of documents and the like, it`s pretty fast.

after overwriting that specific sector on your drive several times, that sensitive stuff is gone.

yes, microwaves do wonders for data wipes, really disappointing though, i was about to sell this laptop today to help fund my next build

i am using ccleaner drive wipe right now, i will rescan with the recovery software to see if anything is left if not i will try the eraser, i used it before to delete a file on my desktop once that was a virus and wouldn't let me, forgot the name of it, thanks for posting

if none of these works i will have to bring out the nuke
