Exclusive Interview with OCG CEO, Evan

1. With the introduction of Ghost Mode to OCG, do you believe it will truly revitalize the Ghost Mode community? Why or why not?

OCG won't by itself revitalize the GM community. It takes a dedicated group of people to revitalize a community. OCG is here to assist in that and run drafts, tournaments, and possibly leagues for the community.

2. What made you want to include Ghost Mode in OCG?

We were initially not even interested in doing any events for ghost mode. We had plans to stick with Search and Destroy type tournaments until CowsGoMoo32 contacted me via email about possibly using our services for ghost mode events. Within a couple days we brought CowsGoMoo32 aboard and started on planning some great GM events for the community.

3. Has there been anymore problems regarding the DDOS attacks on the OCG vent?

We have not experienced any DDOS attacks to our ventrilo in awhile and we hope to keep it that way.

4. With the S&D season almost over, what teams should we look out for in the playoffs?

That's a matter of personal opinion, obviously. Carbon is always fun to watch but anyone has a chance!

5. What improvements/changes is OCG thinking about making for the next season?

We've heard many complaints by gamers about how confusing our current tournament system is. We are currently in the "alpha" stages of a new site and tournament/league system that will be 100x more user friendly and easy to navigate. We also have major changes to the Anti-Cheat System. More information on both of these will be ready before our next major event.

6. How long did it take [GM]Saidin to accept the partnership with OCG? Why do you think it took him that long?

When we first came to Z8Games about working together, they looked at us funny. I mean, how often is it that you have a 2 month old organization with a custom coded anti-cheat coming to you about running drafts, tournaments, and leagues? Saidin spent many hours researching and investigating and after about 1month, we got approval from Saidin/Z8Games to continue our working terms and here we are today.

7. Just to remind readers, what are the prizes for this season?

Prizes -
> 1st: 500K Split Amongst Eachother Equally and 5x Mice and the Whole Team gets 2 Month Free OCG Premium Membership
> 2nd: 200K Split Amongst Eachother Equally and 5x Razer Mousepad and the Whole Team gets 2 Month Free OCG Premium Membership
> 3rd 125K Split Amongst Eachother Equally and the Whole Team gets 1 Month Free OCG Premium Membership
> 4th: 100K Split Amongst Eachother Equally and the Whole Team gets 1Month Free OCG Premium Membership
> 5th: 75K Split Amongst Eachother Equally and the Whole Team gets 1 Month Free OCG Premium Membership

8. All in all, OCG was a success in my opinion. How difficult was it to maintain this organization and keep it professional throughout the season?

It was generally easy throughout the whole season. Obviously we had bumps in the road with key community members, but we worked through them and ended up even stronger on the other side.

9. Would OCG ever consider hosting a LAN in the future? If so, where?

If the opportunity arose it's something we'd definitely look into. It's hard to say. We'd have to a lot of research before hand.

10. In the latest patch, the S&D achievement enables players to defuse bombs quicker than ever before. How do you think this will impact the game?

I think it's something that in a competitive sense, is controversial. From what I heard it speeds up the defuse to about 2/2.5 seconds total. It definitely changes the playing field for how BL plants and covers, and how GR executes the defuse. Ultimately, it's up to the competitive community to tell us what they want. From a public player perspective, it's just another perk to playing Search and Destroy a lot. As time goes on, we'll see how it will truly affect the game. But at this point, it's hard to say.

11. What do you look for when picking up OCG staff members?

We look for maturity, reliability, availability, and experience. If a candidate has those, we want them on our staff. Our staff are the backbone of OCG. If there's a kink in the backbone, the whole back could break.

12. Do you have a special shout-out you'd like to give?

I'd like to thank the community for competing in the summer league. We've learned a lot from it and we'll change things for the future. I'd like to thank Z8Games for working with us to make this possible, and I'd like to thank my amazing staff for being determined and spending many weekends and weekdays working to better OCG and the CrossFire competitive community.

Once again, thanks Evan for this interview, and I hope OCG continues its success beyond this season.
