Comments

  • Tbh, this isn't bad, but why not a desktop?

    Expect a little over 200FPS
  • I'm playing on a late 2011 model MacBook Pro that I installed windows 7 on. It has that same i7, 4 GB of ram and dedicated graphics. I get 120-150 in 5v5's.

You should easily get 200 with that laptop.
  • 30 Day "No Defective Pixel" Guarantee - SALE! $45 OFF

^^^ - worthless. If a dead pixel does happen. It'l be after 30 days.

As for a laptop, are you getting it because your going to school? If you are, dont buy a gaming laptop, I did, and realized it was a pretty big mistake.

    1) Its heavy as hell, 10-15 lbs doesn't sound like much, but when your walking for 30 minutes loaded with books and stuff, it becomes alot heavier.
    2) The battery life - Your constantly looking for plugins (which aren't hard to find, but still) If you even think about gaming during a lecture, you maybe have an hour - hour and a half of life.
    3) The chances of it being dropped are high. Between using it while in a lounge, going to class, drunk roommates, other shena****ns (its college) you don't want your primary gaming device to be a laptop in this kind of environment. - Mine got dropped twice in my freshman year by drunk roommates/dormmates
    4) The heating, oh god the heat.

If you are getting it for college gaming. Your much better off getting a smaller cheaper laptop for school ($300-400) and then spending 600-700 on a desktop that will out pace the laptop your planning on getting.
  • And as for the actual parts -

15.6" Full HD (1920x1080) LED Matte Widescreen LCD - Pretty good, laptop screens always look decent
30 Day "No Defective Pixel" Guarantee - SALE! $45 OFF - as above, worthless
nVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M 128bit w/2.0GB GDDR5 - Decent, will overheat like crazy in laptops
Built-in Steelseries Blue Backlit Keyboard - meh
Intel Core i7-4700MQ (2.4~3.4GHz) w/6M L3 Cache - 4 Cores - 8 Threads - Pretty good from gaming standpoint, will eat battery from school standpoint

8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3/1600 Dual Channel Memory - Nice amount of memory, would like to see faster speed
120GB Samsung 840 Series SATA III Solid State Drive - SALE! $30 OFF - Really I keep telling people that at this time ssd's are way to expensive and small memory wise to really warrant anyone but someone without a budget to get. Get a tb - 2tb harddrive at 7200 rpm, have tons of space for everything you want/need while saving $50-100 and load into windows 15 seconds slower.
    RAID Disabled
Combo Dual Layer SuperMulti DVDRW/CDRW Drive - Either completely ignore, or get blu ray. Blu ray only for watching movies etc. Who uses dvds/cds anymore everythings done via clouds/flash memory
Smart Li-ion Battery (6-Cell) - If using for gaming without charging, get a 2nd oner

As for fps in cf, it'l max it, anything from 2009+ does.
  • Thanks ryangi.

Btw, I can't get a desktop. Trust me if I did, I would be all in for it. I have no choice. The laptop is being passed on to me, I just get to pick the rig that I want and what not. After my uncle gets done using it when his 8 weeks of classes are over he's sending it to me.

The laptop will be placed on a laptop cooler, with a medium size fan a foot away from it, and the charger will be plugged in at all times. (This is what i'm currently doing now with my laptop)

My current laptops rig is pretty bad, so i'm expecting a huge difference here. If I can max out at 200+ fps, then i'm pretty excited. Plus i'm also going from 2gb to 8gb of RAM.
