Unknown Software Exception

I started up crossfire today after the patch and got this error saying:

The exception unknown software exception (0xc000000d) occured in the application at location 0x71868aa0.
Click on OK to terminate the program.

Ive tried reinstalling it, running in compatitibility mode, as admin, etc. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ive played this game before and this is just a recent issue, running windows 7 32-bit

    I have tried re-installing it
  • Application Error

I'm experiencing the same problem as well, however I've managed to play CFNA on some occasions where I closed all other applications. But most of the time the error just pops up !

I have a vague idea that it may be the memory, as I am also running on 32 bit I'm only using 4GB Memory instead of the 8 available. But that means I need to get a 64bit windows 7 *cough cough* to try and play the game with higher memory. But IDK..

Anyone got any better understanding of this?

...or try to run the crossfire.exe and the HGWC.exe in windows xp serv pack 3 compatibility mode - right click on these 2 .exe and select that in the compatibility tab.

    Good luck!
  • Usually caused by a corrupt registry entry. Run a clean registry program and reboot. I use Ccleaner, free program.

Right...this can help too - I use CCleaner (there is also a portable version available which need no install - easy to google) also routinely.

But always check what it wants to delete/fix be sure to make a backup save (option in the software) so you can revert the changes...sometimes it delete something important you need...registry changes can make a big damage in the OS if something goes wrong...

    Hey,

    - click Add to add the crossfire.exe (browse to the game directory and chosse the .exe)
Stuck here atm, so for this bit is it the launcher on the desktop or the one inside CF folder (the one along with the CF_G4 box?)

    Thanks In advance :)
