  • It's an anticheat, it looks up your drives, checks files for hacks, looks for injectors into cf, changes in dlls/texture files, records and takes screenshots.

It also looks at Google Chrome and takes SS of your Desktop such as in game or skype or private data, which they can and (Have) given out > http://forum.z8games.com/showpost.php?p=3595350&postcount=63. Dont forget you can get banned for having ANY type of hack for any game. Your cheat for OSU will get you banned in CF. GG

Whats your point? Do you have something to hide on google Chrome? Are you worried they will find your asian puke **** files? Every anticheat thats decent has looked up things in browsers. Esea's reads your mumble and skype. You act like this is some taboo thing thats never happened.

You apparently have no idea what Google chrome is...

It's an internet browser, that shows these things called websites and stores rudimentary personal info. What is ocg going to steal my crossfire account? Or my facebook login? These are some extreme lengths to go to do something so childish.

Instead of whining about what they can look at, why don't you give me some reasons as to why looking at this stuff is bad?
  • Some of us are older than 12 and don't live in our mom's basements anymore, we have Paypal accounts, bank information on Chrome. taeyoNNNNNN had an issue in the past when the OCG A/C scanned the Chrome appdata folder.

Is risking your personal info worth competing in this little tournament? Personally, I thought the Summer Tourney ran by the members of In Theory was well done, avoided drama and didn't have A/C's that went through your computer unlike the OCG tournaments.

Paypal accounts. Rofl, you may be 12 then. And no, you don't store bank information on chrome, you store your bank login on chrome. Nothing more. To access money from a different IP, you would need your debit card info, along with the authorization number on the back (which won't save on any browser or payment system) and you would also receive warnings via text messages that you could stop the transfer on. Trust me, if you've ever used your debit or credit card to make a reservation/rental to a local small scale business, your info is safer with the clown from ocg.

Let's say that you use a "Credit card Info" to purchase something online, and well, since you know you will buy often off that site, you will save the information. What happens if yo download the "OCG Anti cheat" It probably has a keylogger inside, that we don't know whatsoever, which there probably isn't, but I'm almost 75% sure that was the reason this thread was created for.

    See above. I ninja edited.
  • So many people making up excuses to not use the anti cheat.
This is like saying what if someone watched my bandi while I put in my credit card info.

You do know that the OCG AC is running even when youre not logged in. They could look at SS from your Desktop while you're making a purchase online and use it.

They have already proven that they are untrustworthy by releasing private data found by their AC, which is a violating of their own Privacy Policy.

It's not like you have anything for OCG to steal. But other people do, don't be so god damn naive by thinking because something says "anti-cheat" and the owners say it's trustworthy, doesn't mean it's true.

"THIS AC GOES THRU OUR DATA"

    like
    what

    all acs do this

    all acs look thru appdata

  • An official member of OCG can contact me (or Saidin, that might be better) if they want to release some form of a statement, however until that point this is going to stay closed.

Speculation is a BAD THING. If you are in fact concerned with the security of running the OCG anti-cheat, then just don't participate in anything that requires you to run it.

In the meantime, I'll try to dig up a couple posts that cover some of these concerns that have already been posted.

I would like to update this thread to directly address the rumors and assumptions being spread by this players discussion of inaccurate information.

    1) Their AC does not run after you log out of the AC. Their AC will also not scan/screenshot if the game(s) is not running (after the initial scan)

As with most AC's if they detect the game running then they will be submitting anti cheat data to the company who runs the AC. This is not uncommon and your responsibility, should you be worried about additional data being sent, to log out of the ac and close it down upon the finish of your game session.

    2) Their AC has had plenty of updates, especially removing the data it's collecting that is irrelevant to CrossFire. They have proven that they have been listening to user feedback about the security of the AC and modifying it to make it both more secure and more accurate for it's use with CrossFire and other games.

    3) They released information in an investigation in which Entrapment was used (illegal). The information was shared under false pretense. The information they released, which was released privately to another user was done so in order to continue an investigation which was hampering their business. OCG had every right to do so, especially under the circumstances which were used to obtain the information (illegal extortion and entrapment).

If you personally, jpurvis, do not believe #3 is accurate and consider to judge OCG untrustworthy based on the fact you have quoted, then you yourself are as untrustworthy as OCG based on your previous actions. And for anyone reading this I would avoid trusting this users judgement, speculation and inaccurate information about OCG and their AC.

AC's need to scan computers. This is the purpose of an Anti Cheat. It's going to be invasive because if it wasn't, it wouldn't be stopping players from cheating.

The OCG is not in the business of exploiting information, they are interested in creating a legitimate playing experience in CrossFire. They are continually making their AC as strong as possible and listening to the feedback they are getting to make the necessary improvements.
