reset ranks?

i was playing the other day and Gos was in the room. i remember him from along time ago. he was playing really well as usual but his rank was a SFC. he told me that the GMs reset his rank, all he did was ask. he got to keep all his stats but just restarted the rank.
I dont want this for my account but im just wondering if its true or it was an imposter lol, im pretty sure it was him though.
