  • upgrading your connection speed will lower your ping. i dont know excatly how much but my wild gues would be: with 6mb/s you get 60-80..tell me if you upgrade if i was close :D
  • Possibly. But ping is mostly affected by how far from the server you are.
  • You can improve your speed connection yoru ping wil be always the same -.-
Doesnt matter your speed, the ping is the time that it takes to connect the server from your pc. I am from Portugal i was with 20Mbits, now i got 150Mbits and the ping is the same 110/130.

    I disagree, tbh.
The speed can affect ping, like it did to me.
Even if you upgrade, you will download archives much faster.
  • With DSL connections, your distance from your ISP's switching station as well as the condition of the telephone wires between your computer and the switching station will have an impact on both your internet speed as well as your latency (ping). It's doubtful that increasing your DSL speed will help improve your ping times. However, switching to another ISP, perhaps a cable internet provider, might help.
  • But if you have a upstream of 1Mbits and you can have a ping of 10/20 that means the game doesnt use 100KBps, so if you live far away from the server and your upstream is lower then 1Mbits, and you upgrade your internet of corse your ping will lower.
  • Yes.
But, the 1mbps connection is divided with upload, (crossfire uploads where you are aiming etc), also with other things.
    And, I haved a 1mbps connection. I downloaded at 120kb and haved a ping of 227.
I upgraded to 2mbps, downloaded at 270kbs and ping of 178.
  • Yep that happens because the last service that you have was really low.
I was with Down: 20Mbits Up: 1Mbits ans my service was using FTTC, now with the new one i have simetric speed Down: 150Mbits Up: 150Mbits and it uses FTTH, so its all the way fiber optic, and its really good, i can play and use utorrent at the same time.

    Stick to Greycloak's post.
256kbit U/D rate is enough in terms of bandwith for just crossfire.
There is a common belief that X X X kbits/sec is the speed of the connection, totally wrong. It stands for Bandwith. Bandwith is a key in your lag only if it is below the minimum required. Otherwise speed depends on your line quality, the distance from servers and the ISP's or Internet backbone's load ratio.

Upgrading your bandwith with current ISP will not make it better. It can only help if you have some other programs that connects to internet and (r)apes all or most of the bandwith. Upgrading may help to keep avalaible bandwith for crossfire.

Consider switching to a better ISP.
