Zombie Essentials

Just like any zombie invasion, you need to be prepared!

1) Weapons
Bringing the right weapon to the right job is important! Knowing which weapons are effective are even more important! Sometimes your old faithful rifle probably won't cut it in terms of mowing down the seemingly endless waves of zombies, crawlers, mutants, and the like!

A few criterion to keep in mind when selecting your weapons are the following:
> It is recommended for the weapon to be automatic with at least 25 rounds.
> It must be fairly light, unless you are sniping. (mentioned later)
> It must be fairly powerful.
> It is strongly recommended that the weapon have a camo on it or is an Adv. version, as it will increase its ammo count and most likely come with a mini scope.

a) (Assualt) Rifle
The best weapon type, next to the Machine Gun. Its low weight, yet high capacity and firepower make this a very versatile weapon, when its either mowing down several zombies in a short period of time, or killing a boss. Unfourtuately, the higher-end rifles are very, very expensive, but if you've been saving up, it will be worth every penny. Overall, you can't go wrong with a rifle.

Select: Any rifle
Avoid: N/A

b) Machine Gun (MG)
The second best type, machine guns trade mobility for more capacity and power. Firing constantly is one thing, but keeping mobile is another. Use this only for bosses, or holding out in straegic areas, such as locked doors which open after a certain wave.

However, one weapon that needs practice before use is the Gatling Gun. It's spin up time and slowdown when firing can be a nuisance, unless the targets are slow-moving or stationary, which is not the case most of the time. It offsets this with a high refire rate and damage, but make sure to stop firing and move once the mob is dead. Don't burst fire it either - the spin up time makes it impractical.

Select: M60 Adv., RPK, M16A4 LMG Gatling Gun Camo
Avoid: N/A

c) Sub Machine Gun (SMG)
The polar opposite of machine guns, they trade power for mobility. Same issues, but is more geared towards crowd control. SMGs lack accuracy over range, which means you need to be fairly close to a mob to deal damage, but most SMGs have high capacities: usually around 30 to 50, meaning that the mob will sometimes be wiped out before you need to reload.

One weapon that needs a little practicing before you can kill effectively with it is the P90. Its long reload time leaves you open to attack, but its high power and capacity offset this. Make sure to reload after each wave, as its ROF will burn through your mags fast.

Avoid the MP7 (but not the MP7A1). It is too weak to destroy a mob, let alone a boss, and it burns through ammo too fast.

Select: Uzi, Dual Uzi, P90, PP90M1, SR-2M Veresk, MP5 (Adv.), MP7A1, AK74u, etc.
Avoid: MP7

d) Shotgun
The worst weapon to have. Its capacity is too low and you need to be right next to a zombie to deal damage, which leaves you open for attack. If you still need to use a shotgun, use the ones that utilize magazines rather than loading individual shells, as they have high capacities and power. Avoid all others.

Select: M1216, Jackhammer, Dual Desperado
Avoid: All other shotguns.

e) Pistol
A great weapon to have when your ammo for your main weapon runs out. Some pistols can single-handedly take out a mob! But don't rely on it - It too will run out of ammo fast.

Avoid the M9 and Colt 1911(but not the Dual Colt!), because their low power will not kill the mobs.

If you happen to own a Glock, set it, and keep it on 3 round burst and aim at their crotch. It will most likely kill them with a head shot. If not, it will heavily damage them.

The Dual Double Barrels is a best saved for a boss killer. It's firing speed and narrow spread won't kill mobs effectively.

Select: Glock, Sig P228, Mk. 23, Desert Eagle, Colt Andaconda, Dual Colt, Dual DBs, USP etc.
Avoid: M9, Colt 1911.

f) Sniper Rifle (Sniper)
If long range kills are your thing, this type is best for you. Virtually all rifles are good, I'd suggest you have a good vantage point, paitence, are ready to relocate if nesscary, and have a good supply of food and drink nearby. However, I'd suggest the AWM Camo or WCG over all else, as its 3 level zoom scope and its extremely high power will kill a lone zombie/mutant or severly damage a boss, with one shot.

Note: Sniper Rifles are heavy!

Select: any sniper rifle
Avoid: N/A

g) Grenade
Another weapon to have. All grenades are good except for flashbangs and smoke, as they will screw you and your teammates over, and will most likely get you kicked. Yeah, don't do that. However, if you have it, use the almighty Wide Grenade, as it will kill a mob instantly without fail.

Select: A-type grenades
Avoid: B-types and C-types

h) Melee
Although rarely used, if you run out of ammo entirely, it's a godsend, depending on what weapon you brought. I do not recommend spending on melee weapons, but if you have to, get a Katana - it has a long range and high power. An excellent last stand weapon.

Select: Katana, Combat Axe, Kukri, Kris
Avoid: all others

i) Best Weapons?

Here is the best weapon(s) from all types:

AR: AK-47 Gold/Fury or M4A1 Gold/Crystal
MG: M60 Adv. or RPK Gold
SMG: Dual Uzi Camo or AK-74u
Shotgun: M1216 or Jackhammer
Pistol: Dual Desert Eagle (w/ Camo?)
Sniper Rifle: AWM Camo or WCG
Melee: Katana
Grenade: Wide Grenade

j) Protip!
When using heavy weapons, switch to your pistol to move faster!

k) Weapon Emplacements
From Chicago and beyond, you will encounter gun turrets for use. Be warned! As indicated in the HUD, you have limited ammo. I think it it was E to use.

Here are the emplacements so far:
Gatling Gun - 500 shots (Chicago)
FN FAL Camo - Rifle: 100, Grenade: 10 (Theater)

2) Items
Although not AS mandatory as weapons, Items can help you out. However, if you are skilled, you don't need any items at all!

a) Hypomed
Hypomeds come in two variaties: Small and Large. Small recovers 20 HP, while Large recovers 60 HP. It is recommended to have a good supply at hand, but save it until you're low on health.

b) Revive Tokens
These apparently give you a 1-Up when you're out of lives. If you really want it, just buy one for a second chance at a boss who is very weak in Normal, or Hard mode. Otherwise, don't buy it.

3) Teamwork
There's no I in team! Assign different roles to different players in the lobby and co-ordinate your actions. There are 3 different jobs.

a) Team Leader - Gives out orders and is responsible for the team's survival. Also helps with fire support.
b) Scout - Goes ahead and destroys zombie in sight. There is usually 2 scouts for good measure.
c) Sniper - Snipes any hard to reach zombies, or to provide fire support from above.

Protip - Stick together when moving in assualt missions. Leave no man behind!

It is recommended to play in a clan, but that doesn't mean you do not play with others!

Use the chat to co-ordinate movement and attack, as well as giving orders.

Leaders, do your part - Just because you are leader doesn't mean you can sit back and relax! Get into the fray and support your allies!

4) Headshots
Kill the brain, kill the zombie. Aiming for the head saves ammo.

5) Sharing is caring!
Share grenades and Hypomeds - unless you are playing alone.

Follow all these steps, and you might get out of the zombie apocalypse alive.
