low frame rate
while playing crossfire on my laptop im only getting a framerate of about 7-10 fps
i dont expect much from this laptop as its about 4 years old bt it still meets the min requirments for the game,
it used to run crossfire at about 15-20 before i had to reinstall windows xp bt now its jst gone terrible, ive updated all my drivers and chipset but still nothing
so im nt to sure whats going on with it at the minuite
my computer i use works fine with it and run at about 55fps while playing witch aint to bad really,
anyone got any ideas what mite be causing this or know any soluitons to fix it apart from buying a new laptop, but im aiming to get a new one soon tho, bt for now it would be nice to be able to play it on the laptop
thanks for any advice people can give

You can try to download newest drivers for your graphics card ( here http://www.driverheavendownloads.net/ ). And if there is nothing new for your graphics or they not giving a support anymore you can download drivers for a desktop version of your graphics card and use Mobility Modder (here You have full description how to use it http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php)
It was helpful for me. My fps goes down few days ago from 120-150 fps to 40-60 fps. Yesterday I use this mod tool to upgrade my drivers and everything is fine now
My graphic card is Mobility Radeon 2600 HD and there is no support I mean no upgrade for drivers from over 1 year.
Good Luck.
(sorry for my english but I really do my best) -
Hi bloor. What you are having is an fps lag which may be due to the following:
-Unnecessary programs running in the back.
-A driver which may be very old and near the minimun req for crossfire
-Since you mentioned reinstalling windows xp, the update may have crowded the Drive files.
Solutions: Try a program called 'Game Booster'. I personally recommend this program, what it does is closes and stops unnecessary programs for playing Crossfire that are running. Open this program only when playing Crossfire. --- http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html
Another program that my friends use is 'Game Hike'. I have never used this because Game Booster is good enough for me, so I don't know much about this program. Use at your own Risk.

You may have crowded drive files that need to be defragmented for best computer performance. The defragmenter program that I use and recommend is 'Iobit SmartDefrag'. If Crossfire doesn't run smoothly, try defragmenting once a week if not more. Analyze first, then do whichever defragmenting option the program recommends. --- http://www.iobit.com/iobitsmartdefrag.html?Str=download
You can update your drivers the easy way. Maybe this will help, however it may screw things up more, so make SURE you create a restore point before updating.
Restore Point: Press Start, cursor over My Programs, go over Accessories, click on System Tools, click on System Restore, then Create a Restore Point.
Now to update your driver:
Go Control Panel, press System, open the tab HardDrive tab, press Properties under Device Manager, click on Display Adapters, open up the adapter you have inside, press on the tab Driver, then press update. *Remember, I am not responsible for what happens.*
Speed things up (ping and fps) by closing all downloads, exiting MSN, exiting unnecassary programs at the bottom right of your screen. (MSN/Skype/AIM) Another thing that lowers my fps greatly is because an antivirus program (Norton/FortiClient) is doing a thorough scan for viruses. You can wait until the scan finishes or you can close the scan if you want to play the risky way.
Finally, since you said Crossfire was working decently UNTIL you reinstalled windows xp, you can try a system restore. Start, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore, and choose a restore date prior to your reinstall. This may roll back things you don't want it to, so use at your own risk. I am not responsible for anything that happens. Unless its a good thing. -
thanks for the help guys, ive updated all of my drivers again just to make sure that they are up to date,
and that game booster programme is brill, i did ecatly what you said, installed it and can deffo see an improvement its gone from about 6-9fpm, its now running about 15-23fpm
but its does still have problems at times and drops to about 7fpm but im guessing thats down to the laptop itself and finding out that the last time the mrs defragd it was over a year ago, so i think some of my problems may have came from there lol
been 4 hours on defrag and only on 22% lmao
this should deffo make a change to it,
thanks everyone for all your help
see you on crossfire oneday
