Chat box

I was thinking about little friend chat box to forums. Kinda like same as in fb, steam, xfire, etc. It would show you your friends and allow you to message them.
That would be fast way to say something private to your friends. I know there is already visitor messages and private messages, but visitor messages aren't really private and private messages aren't that fast + inbox gets full pretty fast.
There also should be button, which will enable/disable the chat, that way staff members (MOD's/GM's) and other people with loads of friends wouldn't get spammed. This would bring more use for the current friend option, because currently there isn't really use for having friends on forums.

So tell me what is your opinion bout this and would you like to see something like this in future.

Plus one to this. This would save so much effort, and would save me so much time, since not everyone I speak to uses Skype, Steam, etc.

It's rather good idea, thought then most probably the foruming will cease to minimum, as people would start using this message -thingie instead of discussing in threads.
Of course, also going off topic in a thread wouldn't be that big of a problem, but possible cursing would most probably increase in posts, as people tends to curse more, whenever they can. (I wonder why?)

Also, I like forums kinda this way more..

I can pretend to be offline whenever I feel like, just reading posts and giving them thought, without "blinging and popping" -sounds distracting me.
And I don't want forums to turn into Facebook -like page.

Anyways, I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but I don't either confess it to be good.

Trying to be politically correct about a forum?

OT: I think it's a neat idea so friends can chat with each other and those who just wanna flame and cuss at random people can get reported and ignored.

It can be set up so either everyone can talk to you or only those who you are friends with on the forum. Notifications can be turned off or should be able to be turned off.

Invisibility mode is pretty standard in any chat program.

I think that the whole chat box should change. it should be made much easier to do your setting ingame and to reply and write etc.
