Crossfire Ad-Space
I noticed on Eagle Eye S&D and some other maps, there are
lots of places which could potentially be used as ad-space,
so why don't they take advantage of that?
(By ad-space I mean places where other companies
can purchase to put their advertisement up, and they
pay monthly)
Seems like a great idea to me, does it not?
Here's a little idea of how the bargaining system would work:
Say there are 3 ads in the system (there will often be 100s of ads in the system):
We actually pick one of A, B, or C at random. But we don't give each ad equal odds. The probability that a specific ad is shown is equal to that ad's bid, divided by the total bid for all ads in the system.
So, for example, P(A shows) = 50 / (50 + 100 + 300) = 1 in 9
B, with a bid double that of A, will show twice as often. P(B shows) = 2 in 9
C, with the highest bid, will show about 6 times more often than A. P(C shows) = 6 in 9
(showing the probabilities of the ad being chosen to be displayed)

I already hate seeing ads on my browser, if it were in game I'd rage.
Unless they come out with an adblock of sorts
Well these ads could be relevant to the game, such as a Frost Gaming one, or a clan recruitment, or something. Maybe you could even purchase ad-space with ZP, then you could advertise your clan (depending on how much you bid towards your ad) and it would show up in-game sometimes.
The possibilities are endless, and its really a feast of profit for Crossfire. -

It might be a hassle, especially since there is only 100 members per clan allowed.
Imagine being the leader/LT of a clan and all of a sudden hundreds of players send clan requests. Most of those might be new or generally bad players.
Most people good enough already belong to a clan.
Also, the idea of buying it with ZP is, meh. Money works better.
I do like the idea of using it to advertise tourneys and events that are going on at the time. -

ads that promote sponsors such as FG or wtv related to the game in a way would be a +1 and I also think it would be great for players to sponsor their own self for an X amount per 7 day have their clan name up there or something like : a logo maker but for clans and they could ad their clans ad .. although it would be jam packed limit of 7 days per 2-3 months per clan so it can differ a bit and more popular maps cost more zp and so blablabla on

Most of the other CF's use them, why don't we just steal it from them like we do with most other things. -

What in the world are you talking about? This isn't meant to be beneficial to the players, this is just another way of becoming apart of one of the biggest money making parts of the internet today. Though there may not be a direct benefit towards the players, there could be more price drop events, more LANs, more updates, more everything.
The more money Z8Games has, the more they will be able to spoil us. -
Yeah, the game would have to be patched everytime an ad expired.. So someone would have to pay for a month's worth of space until the next patch..
I would like to see this so the game can improve and progress, but you would need someone who's willing to pay for that long a time-span.
It should still be an option in hopes of any takers.. -

FG LAN being posted on the launcher got them tons of bogus applications from loads of different countries..

I don't understand how you think more money for z8 games means they will give us more benefits. To me, z8 always seems to react when they start to lose money/potential to lose money. For example, events to get back players who left/finally patch hacks after big hack wave and players started leaving.
Their motivation is always income. If they have steady income, why bother giving away benefits. If they are losing players, they have to give more benefits to make players stay (till break-even point) -

That may be so, but maybe we're not talking about a small EXP event on the weekend, we're talking about updates that come out for our version. More money to Z8Games means more staff employment, which means more work on the site (updated ribbons page, rival factions, weapons guide, etc.).
Plus, this idea wasn't meant to benefit us, this is a suggestion towards Z8Games, not every suggestion needs to be made towards us.vMiamiRain wrote: »Yeah, the game would have to be patched everytime an ad expired.. So someone would have to pay for a month's worth of space until the next patch..
Maybe so, or maybe they could create some sort of system that would interact between the website and the game, so the images can be easily viewed, or changed, like the auction system I added onto the original post. -

That would include lag and issues when people are playing the map and the ad is being changed at the same time.. It could cause some un-needed errors and bugs, maintenance and most likely, the affected maps would have to be temporarily unavailable which is stupid. (not saying your idea is stupid, saying that having to shut down certain maps to update the ads are.)
We know these guys can do this, they've done it before on a contest. People would just have to pay for a monthly block and everything would have to be very organized so all the requests and ad's are ready for the patch. -
I didn't mean the ad should be changed every round in-game, I meant change it every match, so the ad chosen would be chosen before the map even started.
That can get messy with the buyers thinking that they're not getting as much "air time" as they paid for. I do still think that having it as a set ad for a period of time will work best. Even if the ad is changed before the start of the match, the load-up will take longer because of it.. Again, it can lead to glitches like half-loaded ad's and so-on.
If there's a way to have a mini-patch once a week to update the ads, that would be ideal... A pain to everyone else, but something like a weekday evening for a 30 minute patch, not a whole lot of people will get mad.
But for the ad-changes to be live and changing constantly, it can really slow down load-up times, even if the ad was in the game files. Whether the load-up delay will be 1 second, 10 seconds or 100 seconds longer, who knows? There are pleanty of ad spaces so for them to be changing after every round isn't really neccesary.. Just have each spot set for 1 ad and if the space is in a spot on the map that people don't really walk through often, those spaces can have a little lower price.
