Black Bars

Does anyone know how to get black bars for an AMD video card? I don't know how to achieve this was catalyst, was wondering if anyone else had it figured out already.

EDIT: Ok, on the left there's an option called My Digital Flat-Panels. Open that up, and then click on properties in the dropdown menu.

There should be a section called image scaling. Tick "Maintain Aspect Ratio."

why would one want black bars in the first place? I've seen people ask how, and I'm just wondering as I've never really seen the point in it o_o

I found it allowed me to focus more on the entire screen while playing. I had top and bottom bars, so it was like watching a movie, and somehow made everything easier to focus on. :O

Its because when you play on 800by600 or 1024by768 and use a widescreen monitor, you need black bars to get the true resolution as those are square resolutions. If you dont have black bars are are using a square res, you're screen will stretch and things like hit boxes will mess up.

really? I'd like to try this out, whenever win8 gets fixed. How to do it with a nvidia card?

Go to your Desktop. Right click. NVIDIA Control Panel. Left, midway down, click 'Adjust Desktop size and Position'. midway down. 'Aspect Ratio'

Yea so it depends on what Graphics Card your using. Intel tends to keep there Graphic controls easily available for quick easy use. Nvidia makes it harder to get to but it's more organized.
