Post Patch Issues - Windows 8 and Client Errors - UPDATED MARCH 22

Update 5:00pm EST March 22nd.
We've updated the game server side which should help with the client errors.

In testing we still saw an abundance of 18_1 errors, but this error is a clipping problem, most likely to occur on railings in Dinner Theater.

Other errors should occur a lot less now!

We are still working with the devs on the Windows 8 issue in TOP PRIORITY.

We have received numerous reports over the last 24 hours regarding Cross Fire client errors and incompatibility with Windows 8.

We have been working with the developers over night and have some new fixes coming today which should help with many of the client errors our gamers are experiencing. This fix is currently in testing, as soon as it gets the green light we will be putting it live.

Please note that we have not seen any cases where players have lost items from Slaughter Tickets. If you purchase Slaughter Tickets and kill zombies then error out, you STILL RECEIVE ITEMS even though the Ticket count has gone down and you haven't seen the result screen. Until we can prove otherwise this is the case. We're looking at the Databases now to build our Support Team a better interface to confirm to players this information. We'll have more on it as we go forward.

Windows 8 issues have been reported and are being worked on. When we have a fix for this we will address them as soon as possible.

Stay vigilant! The zombies are coming, and we need to do everything we can to push back the Horde. Even if the technology is failing, we have a duty to kill as many zombies as we can! Especially because it equals free items and points!!

    Last paragraph is good.
  • So is the Windows 8 fixes coming today? Or is it just the client/game? Kinda sucks that a lot of us can't play at all, but many people are losing a lot of crates and lost of zp, so it's kinda of a good thing...
  • Will there be any type of event held to compensate the lost time?

I think its pure for sure there will be a new event to compensate the lost time. :)
  • Good to hear that you are working over night. I hope it gets patched before I get home.

How can we kill zombies if, uh, we can't? Please extend the event!

We did extensive testing on this, playing ZM and using slaughter tickets, erroring out, pulling the plug on the computer, internet connection etc. And in all cases the player still received prizes from the tickets used up in that game.
  • I'm receiving this error when tryin to start the game.
I've got Windows 8 32 bit Enterprise Evaluation (im usin it till my bought version comes)

  • I expect more than just an apology from you guys. Extending events(gm+zm ones) and giving us extra exp would be fair considering that Windows 8 users lost 2 days counting this one too.

plus the bugs at the weekends ...
  • Windows 7 as well

I played with my friends last night and both of us use Windows 7. The client error happened to him almost every half an hour. So there may be some problems with Windows 7 as well.

Its not Windows 7, just Crossfire.
  • It will be nice for us if we get some slaughter tickets for free as compensation, that alone, I'll be happy. :)
Hope you get this all done in a few hours, otherwise, I just may as well do calculus.
  • i got my items when I got error :)
but my win8 pc don't work for cf :(
luckily I got win7 laptop for back up uheuehu :D

    exp event please :p

    It's very frustrating.

We will be glad to announce apologies and make-ups. But not until AFTER we solve the problems.

Hopefully you can understand that. We definitely apologize for the current Windows 8 issue. It needs to be solved ASAP. But we're not going to announce extensions or make up events until we are confident the problem doesn't exist any more.

I am still waiting for the fix so i can play crossfire under win xp x64 ...but i'm afraid it will never come

I would be happy too, plus we would be able to check how does it work, because just reading about it is really confusing.

Saidin, maybe you can answer some of my questions posted on another thread:
    Blamesss wrote: »
How do we keep track of how many Zombie we killed?
And on round 30, do the zombies you kill count or not? (they don't give you any points)
Do all the maps count towards for this event or only the new map?

When are we going to have more information about this event?
You said that: "Extended details of this event will be posted in a separate news announcement".

But the event is supposed to have started already...

    Thanks in advance!

Well, it's obvious that exp+ events and anything of that kind would be useless until everything works fine again and also nobody can tell when that will be. So yeah, not expecting anything to be announced yet since you guys have a s***load of work anyways. But after the errors are fixed, everyone would greatly appreciate more time to finish the current events.
Good to see that you work on it and already thought about make-ups, hope it gets fixed until tomorrow.
  • .

good jop :) in this day i donot complete any game from more errors in all games and all servers
  • FYI those who are playing and killing zombies you can use the event page for tracking your kills.

    Note it's on a 2 hour delay.

  • Saidin i understand you are very busy with all the current issues, but i wanted to know is anything being done about the loading screens (the time it takes to get from 0/100% and in-game).

I know this is purley down to computers specification, but my computer has stayed the same since 2009. I understand that my computer specs are quite low for the standard machines being issued today, and i'm also assuming your test machines (for content releases and various other things) are pretty up-to date computers. With that being said you cannot see how it feels to run the game with an old machine, the games loading time drastically increased with every update (mostly the ones to do with zomibe mode content.) and the preformance of the game slowly deteriorating.

It is evident that throught these massive patches slow computers are becomming less compatible with Cross Fire without pushing them to their limits. It's becomming so bad that you literally have to remove game sounds (the ones in the snd2 folder) the crossfire fonts and some of the GUI just to get a few seconds of loading fast, not to mention closing explorer.exe.

Most of the gamers who download this game take a look at the minimum requirements of the game before actully downloading it, they think it's really easy to run due to the false spesifcations being shown in that section, by that i mean being tested in 2009 and never again. Once the download is finished and the player then runs this game only to see that he infact lags running the game this causes huge frustration because he has now just lost alot of time downloading the game and actully liking how it looks.

Here are my slow computers specs:

I think this games preformance should be taken into consideration. I hope you can make this game easier to run for the players with slower computers.

Good luck fixing the windows 8 bug and client errors,

    Thanks in advance.

I think they are doing that too along with the patch issues also. This is why the whole thing is taking longer than usual, they want to make sure that the new patches will not cause more damage than now.

And for the even do you have to kill 1000 zombies in A SINGLE GAME? Or just accumulates, and what level does it had to be on. To be honest, normal is too easy still, if you have the bullet proof hat or vest, it reduces the damage taken to HALF. So it makes it way easier to survive longer.
  • Error?

windows 8 cant open the cross fire
you can open it in windows [xp]&[7]&[vista]
    :)
