Forum Newbie Guide.


We all are newbies/noobs/n00bzorz at hearts. So lets take the time to read this, I promise you it will make your time at Z8games Forums more enjoyable. And easier on the mods.

A.How do I register at the forum?

B.How to make Topics and Replies?
If you wish to start a new topic then you merely need to navigate to the correct forum to post your topic in. Then from the forum view click the newthread.gifbutton to be taken to the New thread screen. Type up your post and submit.

If you wish to reply to an open topic then either click the reply.gif button while viewing the topic, or use the Quick Reply box by clicking the quick reply button on any post in the thread, then navigate to the bottom of the thread to post a quick reply. Then click Submit when done.

C. Can I edit and delete messages?
If you wish to edit a message click the edit.gif button on the post you wish to edit. Choosing Edit opens a textbox into the current post with the post contents. Clicking Advance Edit takes you to the post screen.

At this time there is no way for normal members to delete their own posts. Lets hope they allow us to in the future.

D. How do I apply formatting to posts?
Z8games Forums uses a vBCode system to format posts, which uses tags known as BBCode. There are a number of quick access buttons that insert tags into your post.

E. What are the rules of the forum?

Individual forums may also have additional rules specific to that forum. So READ THE STICKIES!

F. How do I report abuse?
If you have a problem don't make a new thread just contact a moderator or an admin. Creating a thread can just cause you more flaming and make the problem worsen.

G.What is a Private Message?
A private message is a message sent from one account directly to another. It is used to discuss things out of the public forums. Bear in mind that the forum rules apply to the PM system as well.

H. How do I edit my profile information?
Most actions that can be performed on your account can be accessed through the User CP. There are various account options lined across the left side of this page.

I. What is that little image in the left pane of a post?
That is an avatar and is simply an image that goes with all your posts and PMs, as well as being in your profile page. To set one go to your User CP page. In the Control panel section click the Edit Avatar Settings link. If you have a current avatar it will be displayed here along with the size restrictions in place. To set a new avatar you have three options. You can go to one of the avatars in the avatar gallery. You can input an external URL of an avatar image to use. Finally, you can click the browse button and upload an avatar from your computer to Z8 forums to use. When you have finished this click Update Avatar. You can also use the Remove Avatar option to remove your existing avatar.

J.What is that area underneath a post that is added to each member's post?

This is a signature area, where you can place images***not on this forum***, text, links and anything else. The signature content is still subject to the forum rules. To edit your signature go to your User CP page. Under the control panel section click the Edit Signature link. This takes you to the signature editing screen. Your current signature is displayed on this screen. Signatures can use the same vBCode that forum postings do. Click Update Signature when finished to submit the edits.

When posting, you must make sure the Enable Signature check box is selected to attach a signature to the post.

If your signature becomes too long it may be edited to reduce the size.

K. Reputation

L. Colored names
We do not currently have user groups that require colored names.


M. How do I upgrade my forum account?
We currently do not offer this on these forums.


N. How to be an effective poster

O. Have a good personality
One thing to earn respect is not to be a noob, and have a good positive personality. No one cares about your personal life. Trust me been there done that.
