Reputation System - A Forum Suggestion
Well, before I go in depth, I would like to say, before you post +/- 1 for the suggestion, please read the whole thread, as I may cover the thing you're questioning, or anything. I know this may of been suggested before, but I think this is the perfect chance of suggestion it, since the website is having renovations, and Metin 2 being moved over. Anyway here we go:
I might as well start with the Pros and Cons with the Reputation System:
Pros
- Gives recognition to those whom are active or/and good in the community.
- More useful posts.
- Possibility of less trolls (referring to -rep)
- The indication of if people are reliable and/or helpful. (From the +/-rep.)
Cons
- Can cause more effort for GMs/MODs.
- Can cause insults in the community (for exampe "You're a rep wh**e"..)
There could also be more pros/cons, which I have missed. But other than just the little numbers, there could be a possibility of getting a "ribbon" from the rep.
For example, if you were to get +5 reputation (or higher) you will receive a ribbon, and if you go below, for example go down to 3, your ribbon will be gone. This idea can be adapted on.
I was thinking that you could get +rep for the following things:
- Helpful posts.
- Good guides.
- Good reviews. (expands the CF community via YouTube)
- And much more.
This is it basically... if you have futher ideas, be sure to tell me, and I'll update the OP about it. +1/-1 and if you like it or not, also tell me why.
Oh, I forgot, to stop abuse, Staff can only +/- rep.

I actually suggested this but ingame, it's a very reliable function and I think it would work great overall!
It's kinda hard to farm +/- reps on the forums and there is no need to do it since we forumers know each others.
Also, there should be some tag that shows when a person is reliable.
They should not show how many -/+ you got just the tag shoould be shown.
Other then that, just great!

We had this system back in the Subagames times. Back then it was called karma. At 30 karma people could get an image signature. I doubt the MODS/GMs want a system like that in place though. It would only mean more traffic for these forums.
I personally wouldn't mind it tbh, I had 28 karma back then, so only 2 points away from getting an image signature

What about People that just Downvote/Downrep everyone and everything?
There should be a System in which The Up-Votes and Down-Votes of Low Rep people should count less, then of someone with a as you mentioned +5 Rep.
Just throwing my 2 Cents in there.CookieMunzta wrote: »Most people already have an idea of the helpful and reputable people in the community.
Is it just my Browser, or is your Location destroying the Whole layout? -

I forgot to add that Staff (MODs, Proby MODs and GMs) could only give REP since this would stop rep abuse.CookieMunzta wrote: »Most people already have an idea of the helpful and reputable people in the community.
I suppose so. Thanks for ruining my thread with the location thing. :PIt's possible on vBulletin (Forum backend). It's just a matter of G4 adding the Plugin and making it work in their Forum layout.
Yeah, I suppose they could even rewrite their own plugin for vB. -

"by IGN" we put the reputation next to their name so we know if theyre trolling or now
for example
"by IGN+5 or the number"
The plugin I was looking at has the +rep in Green, for example +5 and then -rep in red, for example -5. The rep is located under the avatar, and then if you click on it, you can see the comments (by whoever gave the rep) on why they deserve/got it.' wrote:DurDom;3476368']Great idea, Harry, like all your ideas
A big +1.
Thanks, I appreciate it. -

hmm should be interesting if it works ^.^ -
REP buttons sounds dumb to me on a forum...
I'd rather say a "Quality Point" marked as a "+" in upper-right corner of someones comment.
If it's a "quality comment", answering the question, refering to the OP's question, etcblablabla, then people can press the "+" button, and he'll get one, two, three etc more "Quality Points". Quality points should be listed under "posts". -

So it is basically an easier version of the reputation system? Interesting... -
I don't think there should be a minus system, just the plus.
If that's the case, the non-everyday-forumers who are asking most of the questions won't be able to differentate trolls between the either non-active people or neutral people on the forums. -

Well, I suppose the benefits out weigh the negatives in the -rep. Either way, with or without minus rep I'd love to see it on the forums. -
This is a nice idea...but rather, the reputation system should be post based, So if you reply with a nice, helpful post that a mod likes (or would've done in the same situation), the mod (or mods) could +1 the post thus giving you reputation, if you ask a dumb question or something trollish, you could lose a reputation (a mod -1 your post)
Maybe a ribbon could be rewarded for having say 50 reputation points?
