CFL Ranking (RPI)

First, let's get a few things out of the way.

1) There were some missing data and dead teams, which caused some inaccuracy in the calculations.

2) RPI is an inherently flawed ranking system that may produce some odd results. For example, Intrigue is ranked 6 in CFL standings but only 22 in RPI. Carbon, with a losing record, is high up in RPI. This is because strength of schedule plays a _huge_ factor in the calculations.

3) Data was collected from the Standings page at www.crossfireleague.com, which was supposedly last updated on February 26, and the Match&Report pages.

4) Human error may have occurred, but hopefully not too much.

5) Just google RPI if you want to find out more.

So, without further ado, your top teams (by RPI) as of Week 3 of CFL are:

Proof that I didn't just pull that out of my ass (though I guess you could still make that case):




Like I said, RPI is a highly flawed way to rank teams (in my opinion). I would be able to create a much better system if a few more data were available to me. For example, if CFL posted the scores of each match alongside the existing info on their Schedule page, I would easily be able to create a more comprehensive rating system.

If you check the CFL site, it looks like only up to week 3's standing have been updated.

Could be my mistake though.

Oops. I'll add in Week 4 later. Not all Week 5 results are available on the site yet, so yeah.

Thanks, man. I'll try to update rankings tomorrow and maybe introduce a new ranking method since RPI is kinda messed.

Anyone know what vv's old team name was or during which week they began CFL play?

EDIT: Wait, is vice versa eHostage? Shiiiiit. In that case, ignore the standing for now; I'll fix it...
EDIT2: Took into account that vice versa used to be eHostage. Still made little difference since both teams eHostage lost to had no other wins at that time. Again, this is only up to Week 3. I'll update it taking new results into account sometime this week.
