Crossfire tournament stats website

Essentially I am writing a stats website for use of all future tournaments.

Currently what I have is a index which allows people to search for players

and a admin page that allows the adding/delete/updating of players. (finishing this part this weekend)

The stats it displays are:

name
kills
deaths
rounds
frags per round

However, I need feed back regarding other functions of the site.

Here is my current plan

v1:
currently what I have

v2:
teams stats (with players on said team)
ranked display (For example, display players by any of the above data. Ex: Top 20 frags/deaths/etc)

v3 (Fancy touch up ****)
ajax integration to make the site more responsive
more intuitive design (I am more technical than design savvy so help is welcomed on this end)
multiple tournaments stats being held at the same time.

Please leave feedback and suggestions here

I will be allowing some beta testing very soon.

Comments/Questions are welcome. I am currently looking at some free hosting solutions to get the site usable.

*edit*: If you have any code related questions about the site xfire me then. I will answer there. The project isn't complex minus the admin auth, which is always a pain in the ass.

untrue. I am writing this to make those dealing with stats in tournaments life much easier.

Essentially, I will give you log in credentials and you input the data into the user area and it will do all the calculations/show the data for you as opposed to dealing with a excel file/formatting/uploading. It is much more efficient and quick.

I won't maintain the data, merely the site.

It is pretty much a app to make it easier on you.

    I see, well thank you.

    But THUNDER!!!!!!!!
  • Update: got a free domain. Currently working on a design and then adding the update/delete feature. Then I should be ready for some beta testing.
  • As CFL admin, if you need beta testers, let me know
  • I would probably look at the page (once it's done) a lot!
  • How would you feel about making this a part of the Cross Fire Database website that's currently in production? I think it'd be good for both parties, and we already have a dedicated host. I'm also a web developer so if you need help with anything I may be of service.

Relevant languages that I know are php, css, html5, javascript, jquery and xml.

I know English and Gobledeegoop if that helps
  • Thanks for all the interest. I need to finish 2-3 more things and I'll be ready for some Beta testers.

I am currently working on a design (Nothing fancy, white background, light red forms all more centralized), and changing some pieces of my code (removing sql errors that I use to debug and changing how successful queries are displayed)

No thank you, at least on the help part. I don't like to let other people work on my code.

*edit* I need advice on color schemes, if you have a opinion (this goes out to anybody) please leave it. I am leaning towards 90CA77 and 81C6DD

I am not planning on it. I am planning on going into SAP R/3. Writing code is something I will most likely do on the side. (most of my code writing is for new systems and personal ideas, my current project is ddos/hacking related but I am not gonna get into that here) Long term, if I create a useful product I would like to start my own business but that is a fairly large if. The only way i'd ever write code for a large company is if I was writing java, all day err day.

Java's a learning tool for people learning their first programming language :/

Not really, you can use Java for anything especially when compared to python (Which is primarily a learning language). A lot of companies use Java. Not as many as c#/vb/c++ but a fair amount. .Net is big in industry in general, I have around 5 years in .Net so that is a possibility. I also am currently learning mainframe (iso) COBOL. A current market trend is favoring legacy languages in large companies, lack of programmers yet 95% of fortune 500's use it, so I figured "Well, most large companies use COBOL. Might as well learn it." But I am leaning more towards IT related fields. The work is easier and the pay tends to be better.
  • code me a bot for old school runescape when it comes out

Maybe. It will be after someone creates a client. I don't have the time to write a full client.

I have a good half dozen classic scripts >.< Most of which are power skillers.
