Match Preparation - What do YOU do?
I'm not a competitive player, but I do follow some of the competitions and players. I have a question for some of the more experienced competitive players...
On the day of a match, what sort of preparation do you do both as an individual and as teams? For example:
Any team meetings regarding strategies or discussion of your opponents?
How much do you play/warm up? All day? None at all until right before match?
Do you have any superstitious rituals or specific things you do before matches?
Do you drink any alcohol to relax nerves (if of legal age of course)?
Anything else you do to prepare?
Hope to see good feedback on this... I think many would be interested.

1. On the day of a match, what sort of preparation do you do both as an individual and as teams? For example:
Play once everyone can get on. This can be a scrim, going over calls/strats in a private room, or doing TDM or FFA. Normally didn't play without my teammates.
2. Any team meetings regarding strategies or discussion of your opponents?
Depends on the team we are playing. Lots of teams have players who do certain roles on certain maps so you can easily gameplan.
3. How much do you play/warm up? All day? None at all until right before match?
However much time we have as a team. Normally everyone was busy with other things until we got on to practice.
4. Do you have any superstitious rituals or specific things you do before matches?
I'll mute my mumble for 2-3 minutes before the match and go browse facebook while I listen to music.
5. Do you drink any alcohol to relax nerves (if of legal age of course)?
Not really. Haven't gotten nerves in a match since 2006.
6. Anything else you do to prepare?
I make sure to drink a glass of water ~30 minutes before hand and have one ready to sip on during the match. It's hard to call if you lose your voice because of a dry throat. -
Music: I listen to Oracular Spectacular by MGMT and then Count Your Blessings by Bring Me The Horizon. Typically followed by a crap and a game of Super Smash Brothers. Typically my shot is very very good, its more a matter of nerves so I avoid playing until a match
