Taking members who are already apart of the community and putting them into a "vVv Community" provides no growth for competitive crossfire. The only growth it provides is to vVv as an organization.
To grow competitive crossfire all the game needs is third-party working acs and cash tournaments. -
What? The public community, ultimately, is the ONLY way to grow the competitive scene.
How so? It has been made quite apparent through GM posts that although they support competitive crossfire they do not have the man power or availability of cash prizes to run competitive crossfire events. This means that a third party organization will need to handle hosting the events.
So increasing the number of players labeling themselves as competitive will not solve this problem. All increasing the player base with casual upstart competitors does is provide a limited selling point to third party organizations.
On the flip side, CASH prize tournaments with ACS could easily bring in a better quality of players. Although these players may not "love" crossfire as a game, they will gladly play it for competition.
From my talks with WOGL they much rather would of had 10-20 teams who take the competition seriously than 40 teams of casual players who barely ever show up. -

The goal of the vVv Community is to bring in players to the competitive scene from other titles in vVv's Community as well as give players from public communities in CF a chance to join and get involved in competitive events within crossfire.
This is some sort of a joke right? -

Getting players from within vVv is definitely a possibility and will help to an extent. I am part of a LoL guild/community and I often play other titles with members of that community.
However, people in the pub community of crossfire have already found their niche. A majority of the larger pub clans no longer play competitions. I don't know how recently you began playing crossfire, but the top ranked and larger pub clans did use to play "competitive". Once they realized they couldn't compete with the smaller more organized/dedicated teams they began to leave slowly.
The option for these larger public teams to compete in "competitive events" is always open, and they choose not to compete based on their own decision. There is quite a bit of animosity between the public cf community and the E8 competitive community.
Furthermore, all you are doing is reorganizing a player base with the vVv community. Outside of the players within vVv who play other titles there is still no growth being accomplished. -
Reids point is that more players in competitive CF leads to more of the Ideal Teams that show up and stay together for whole tournaments.
You are being very idealistic. There are reasons to why large public/casual clans no longer compete in competitive crossfire. -
I feel like a major reason for Pub communities leaving the competitive scene is the fact that competitive players (Not all but the majority) seem to act rude towards teams / clans they deem as "unfit" to play competitively.
If that is the case then how will you assimilating them into vVv solve the problem? -
It wont completely solve it there is many things that need to be done:
- Community Expansion by converting Pub players
- Reaching out to players from other organizations / Titles to join CF
- Community Events (Cash tournaments / Leagues / Lans)
- Z8 cooperation and help such as updating competitive tabs which I am working with Saidin on currently
- Improving the attitude of current competitive players to encourage growth and sportsmanship instead of flaming / trolling. -

There is no reaching out to be done. If there is cash prizes and ACS people from other games will play crossfire. Personally I know about 20-30 people who are interested. That right there is another 4-6 mid to high tier teams just waiting for the opportunity.
The competitive tab on the z8 website is not very useful for growing the community. It will never be like hltv or cadred. At best it can merely used as a another way to disseminate information about events.
Taking a rotten apple and polishing it till it shines still won't make the apple taste any better. Having trolls and toxic players join your vVv community will not cause them to change their ways. -

Facts:
Community expansion by converting pub players will only get you so far, if you actually played the game in 2009/2010 pub clans all played competitive tournaments and leagues (as seen in wogl launch tournament and wogl season 1). They all got stomped by the better teams in the competitive community and decided to stick to pubbing, same thing will happen.
Like doop said, there is no reaching to be done. If other organizations see crossfire is worth investing into then they will come to us, not the other way around. Having a tournament with a decent cash prize and a 3rd party anti cheat will do more than you'll ever know.
What do you think is going on right now? vVv didn't help the COMMUNITY then, they won't do it now. Running LANs require cash funding, something everyone sorely lacks and isn't willing to put in (excluding Jon).
Z8 can only do so much, the competitive tab doesn't mean anything really. People care way too much about something so little, reading the competitive forums can keep people up to date on the competitive scene. Hardly anyone looks at the competitive tab.
Yeah no. You act like people troll just because they want to, when usually the person getting trolled brings it upon himself. Like you for example making a post about something so ridiculously stupid. Why would you even start a thread with the word "yes"? No one was asking you a question. I know you mean well and you're trying to help, you're just going about it the wrong way.
When there's people like Mitch who try to be this catalyst for change when in fact they do nothing to actually help and are just toxic. -

I don't have the resources at my disposal to fix the competitive community, plus why would I? If I had the resources I would put them into LoL or SC2. I try to be positive because I like to look at things from a positive standpoint. I agree with Doop and you in this case; I think it is gonna flop. But that doesn't mean i'm not gonna wish him the best, just like I would anyone else. Let him try, if it woks; great. If it doesn't, o well who cares. -

Yeah great idea, put your resources into two massive games where it wouldn't make a shred of difference whether you try to help or not. -

I wouldn't use my resources in to help out. I would put my resources in to sponsor talented players that would play well and hopefully create revenue. I don't really give a crap about the communities in LoL or SC2. They are so big that trying to improve them is pointless. -
