    Mods already got:
    • Forums powers such closing threads, banning people etc...
    • They get a better communication with the GM's.
    • I think they have their own private section on the forums.
    • They get free goodies once in a while such as the D.E. Pink.
    • Half of them have access to test accounts.

And now you want to give them a free ribbon... Yaaaay!

    or Kris Xmas. :D

You're saying our powers are rewards, rather than powers?
    That doesn't make sense.

I'm really not for or against, it would make no difference to me.
What would have a real impact on the game quality would be in-game powers, but that is a lot harder to achieve. :>

But I do think MOD in-game powers will come in the future. I don't know how much power you will get but I think Z8Games are taking this option.

    The real questions are:

    What powers will you get?
Will it have a effect on hacking?
Will any of the MODS abuse their power?

At the end, we are all humans.

What I am trying to say is that you guys already have advantages. :)

I know for sure that I, for example, would never abuse the powers.
But obviously nobody else would know that, and just saying that makes me less trustworthy.
So, a form of control is necessary.

Either in the form of logging everything we do and keeping close tabs, which requires a lot of extra man-power since the twelve of us could clock thousands of kicks from the servers per day.

Or signing some nice corporate loyalty clause which states that we're very much responsible and will face civil suits if we abuse the powers, and lose everything (related to G4).
It might seem like the same thing but with a written agreement, you take it more seriously and theres only one case of abuse necessary to lose everything.

But then, we're faced with regional problems.
Andre is Portuguese, I'm Swedish, Frecklez is Dutch or something, we have a couple of brits, Candians, Americans etc.
They couldn't sue me and would get laughed at for trying in Swedish court.
So it might just be a piece of paper depending on where the moderator lives.

So yeah, it's a big problem.

Umm yeah, it kind of comes with the territory of being in a position of power.
You whine when servicemen get medals and cops new weapons?
Just doesn't make sense, and sounds like weak jealousy for something, I promise, theres nothing to be jealous of.

Yea sure, but I guess you people should have powers in-game. Since you're a moderator, I think they trust you, if they wouldn't, you wouldn't be a moderator.

Maybe not ban-abilitys, but you can have kick-abilitys. Some trustness-worthy members should have that too.

I would like to see a Karma System and a related ribbon to that, because people would actually try to behave. MODs do allways have high Karma anyway, so you would get a free ribbon anyway.

    win-win situation.

    Aww, karma system. <3
    Would be awesome.

Yes, I do admit that I am bit jealous of what you guys get sometimes however, in the end, you are moderators. Especially when you are a GP player like me. :D

But then again, who wouldn't be jealous? ;)

ikr, that would make the forum to a better place, honestly.

and more active members will come for sure.
  • They are already rewarded with in game items from time to time. That's how they're recognized for their work maintaining the community. I'm not saying they shouldn't get it, because maybe they should. I can't really form an accurate opinion because none of us know when or how often they get rewarded with other things in game.

Anyway, it's just a ribbon. It's nothing majorly important or needed, so I'll stay neutral. All I see it as is another mod perk to make people mini-mod.
  • abel95 wrote: »
-1 It wouldn't be fair for everyone else while mods get a free ribbon.

How can you tell who is a mod and who is not?
First all of, Mods are in a clan called "CF MODS". So they can be recognised in-game. Link:
    http://clan.z8games.com/clanstat_cf.aspx?guildid=47614

[*]Second, they have a special Mod Namecard which you can recognise in-game easily.

[*]Third, Mods have "[MOD]" in front of their name.

[*]Last but not least, they will never ask for you account details or any other information.

Wrong. Not all Mods are, or have been, in that clan.

Point irrelevant... you cant see the namecard out of the game, nor can you see the ribbons ingame.

    Powers are not rewards.
The communication is for the better f the community. They need to contact them on the fly.
How is the private section a reward in any form? Its for safe and secure information to pass to the GM's when not online or a discussion is needed between other mods.
Thats a reward yes. Thats for the work thats done.. The Ribbon is to identify a Moderator on the Clan Page.
No they dont. The only official account SOME have access to is CFDatabase... and I only think thats Rory and Andre.

The Ribbon would serve as an Idenfier for Moderators. Perhaps an Ex-Moderator ribbon as separate to give those who were slightly more authority. Theres been times when I have tried to help someone on here and they simply refused the information I gave them despite me giving the right information.

    1. [MOD]dot has already told me, there is no need to repeat it but who would look at the profile of a player? Not many players come to the website and search a player to see what ribbons they got... I still don't see the point in having it. If the GM feel like they need it then let them do so.

    2. I didn't say private section was reward and I never said powers were rewards. Read my post again.

    3. Simrock also have access to the account.

Now lets leave it at that?

    No. Lets not.

Its evidence on the profile for it being a Moderator. Otherwise there is no indication but for the account being a Moderator account.

No but you implied it since Ribbons are rewards and youre saying they shouldnt have a Ribbon because they have all these things. Pretty backwards.

I forgot about him. So 3 of them have access to an account that is being used to make weapon reviews that they would have access to whether or not they are a Moderator.

    Whatever you say...lol

Lets see what the GM's think. They are likely not to post but who knows...? lol

You think we havent suggested this before? I have already posted saying I had ages ago when I was still a MOD.

Well, if they haven't consider it then. Then why do you think they will now?

Well you did say that you suggested this before ages ago. Therefore, they didn't do the suggestion that you suggested.
  • Giggletron wrote: »

Now this I would be for. The OP's suggestion is to reward them more for what they do, when they already are rewarded for what they do. A ribbon to ensure said player is an actual moderator can help people out.
  • abel95 wrote: »

How does that indicate him advocating my idea?
  • As far as I know there some people who have access to the account without being a MOD.

So having a special account access "perk" is invalid. There are the rival faction accounts they could have access to, but what's the point in that?

After having a deep thought about this, I'd give a +1.

I still think that this ribbon should stand also for having done something for the community or like having a Karma System. If you have more than +15 Karma, you will get it. Trust me, getting Karma is hard. (depends on the forum though and the MODs.)

It depends on the MODs? Yes. They are the ones along with GMs who can reward people with Karma.
There are no negative things about this, only positive ones.

+Better community (since they get a reward for being nice)
    + New forumers
+ aaand many more I can't think of.
  • Giggletron wrote: »

    I lol'd so hard
  • What's wrong. :(

    oh wait...

    Well... actually not but.. lol
