Ayrin WCG Canada 2012 Summary
WCG CANADA MONTREAL LAN NOV 1 - NOV 5
WARNING MIGHT HAVE BAD SENTENCE AND TYPING ERRORS I DON'T LIKE TO READ MY WRITING MUCH WHEN IT'S NOT GETTING MARKED.
Day 1 Nov 1 -
Most of this this day was just getting ready for the LAN we did what we normally did on Thursdays go to school, work. Around 6pm that day our team manager also my friend Johnson came over to my house and couple hours later around 7pm EST Masood came over. Masood and I have met before so it wasn't a big deal but we kept talking about how pumped we were for the LAN Masood drove us to STC a mall near his house. We dropped his car at his house and we hopped on the subway. The subway we took brought us downtown where we would deal with our bus tickets to Montreal and wait for Andrew to bus down along with Jamie to finish school just across the street. We waited in the food court after dealing with our Grey hound tickets which was a complete mess, they spelled everyone names wrong on the ticket except for mine. Like who spells Andrew with a D at the end Andrewd. At around 10pm Jamie and Andrew came and we met each other and it felt normal like we were still on mumble on a Saturday night just talking. After all the talk and such we went to our Coach terminal and we waited for 2 hours for our bus to come. Everyone was already glaring cause of the Frost Gaming Sweaters.
Day 2 Nov 2 -
It was 12:45am and that's when we hopped on the bus. Our bus wasn't a straight 6 hours it was 3 hours than a 15 min break than another 6 hours. We had to go to Ottawa first before hitting up Montreal. The bus ride there was very uncomfortable. We had to wake up constantly because we were thirsty and forgot water and the road was bumpy, When we got off around 9:45AM we were so relieved but then we looked outside and it pouring. Once we got off we already liked Montreal, pretty ladies everywhere was great but also tons of smokers made us really grumpy. We taxied to the hotel and this black taxi driver was a great and funny one but he ripped us off in the end and never showed up with our receipt. At this point we were getting our hotel organized and such but David was flying from Vancouver and he was legit broken telephone and he said he will be our hotel in 10 and we waited for 20 and I was getting angry as hell cause this guy wasn't picking up his god dam phone! We got our rooms, we went to get some nice french classic breakfast. We went back to our hotel and we talked about strategy and how to approach this as our first LAN and we all took a nap. We woke up 1 hour 30 minutes before our match and we started to walk our way towards our match center. When we got there we were decently happy about the event we were forced to wait 2 hours there before warming up. We liked the computers and we played our match on Black Widow, we ended up taking the match 18-5 and it boosted our confidence going into the tournament. After that we went walking around and we tried out "family restaurant sort of" and we got ourselves some classic french poutine which was really filling. We than headed up home and chilled for a bit, on the way ended up talking to couple people about the area and people trying to introduce us to clubs. After a bit of resting David Me Johnson Jamie decided to go for a little walk and we ended up talking to some girls and we talked for a while. We shared our numbers and we planned to chill tomorrow after our tournament.
Day 3 Nov 3 -
Woke up nice and early for our main day 3 matches including the first Semi Final Knockout. We ate some Mcdonalds and Burger King cause we ran out of time and we sort of rushed to the event. We met most of the teams this day and we watched the first match C2 vs NBD. We wanted to see the C2 Counter Strike Players in action thinking they would bring a surprise to us. We observed and reordered how everyone played and with much surprise NBD beat C2 with a pretty decisive victory. We then played Nbd on the same map Eagle Eyes and we beat them pretty badly i think score was might have been 14-5. Next match up was the highly anticipated Lifeline vs c2 match. This match was extremely exciting coming into with a lot of beef between these two teams. The map played Mexico and Lifeline destroyed c2 to get their first win of the tournament. During the game there was a lot of talking and c2 even took out a party whistle in the middle of the match LMAO. We then played c2 on Black Widow and we dominated them as well securing c2 as the 4th seed without wining a single match. Nbd vs Lifeline was exciting as well seeing NBD take out c2 with ease. Lifeline continued to show composure and dominating on that Mexico taking the second securing the second seed vs nbd in the semi finals. The first knock out match was Carnage vs C2 in a BO3. First match being Eagle Eyes we overwhelmed them continuing momentum into the second game we finished c2s tournament run on Mexico. That night David Jamie hit up some clubs and party while Masood and Andrew were extremely tired after a couple of drinks and decided to sleep. Me and Johnson just kept the girls company and just talked for a while. The night ended when everyone got together and we got some food and we just slept it out like pigs.
Day 4 Nov 4 -
We secured our spots in the finals after knocking out c2 and we got some breakfast and went to watch some Lifeline vs NBD rematch in the semi finals in a bo3 knockout. We were surprised to see NBD winning first halve on eagle eyes but ended up losing. They were confident on Eagle Eyes and chose to play it as a second map but also came short the second time. We then moved on to play Lifeline in the Grand Final. Throughout tournament play we believed in our Mexico and against c2 we didn't show much except dominance on T Side and we banned it in the group play every time. In group play you ban one map you don't want to play same with other team and last map will be played. We started on Mexico vs Lifeline and we surprised them like we planned and took the first map with ease. We came to the second map Black widow we stumbled and lost our first halve in the first tournament 4-5 to Lifeline. We came back strong and dominated T side and we sealed the victory and chinabound for Carnage. We were hoping to get dinner with the Lifeline boys but we had to wait 1 hour after our match to get interviewed and take the Team Canada photo with all the winners. So we said our fare wells there after talking for a long while about the experience over all. We hit up a Chinese buffet with the ladies from before and we found our we had to leave in 1 hour so quickly packed up and we headed to the station. We said our farewells and we got onto the bus another 9 hour bus ride.
Day 5 Nov 5
Our 9 bus ride and arriving home and farewell to the boys.
Overall the LAN was phenomenal and I met everyone on all teams. I was chill with all the teams but during the Matches there was always yelling, name calling and that tension that really brought out the meaning of competition. It really brought us together as a team and the moment we met each other i knew we would win. Our friendship and bond has been there and all anxiety built up was gone in an instant. At LAN my team was positive and I personally kept the energy going and we only got Angry in the Finals once when someone blocked Andrew and got 100 damage bombed in the face.
To all the teams out there it's a great experience and you should practice and play together as a team like said in an interview Masood said we gotten into many problems as a team and MANY arguments. I even argued with Masood over a simple matter before our second match and we had to walk it out to blow off our steam. Arguments will help the team become stronger than ever and staying together and not switching your line is what brought us this far. This easily became one of my most memorable and favorite weekends!
Shout out to EVERYONE WHO has played with me since 09, all the players who I have talked to and played against have made me improve to this level.
Shout out to the LifeLine boys really freaking chill guys. Roth, Peter, Anthony, Jeremy, Alvin really showed their composure only being together for less than a week. They were really chill and we talked a lot over the coarse of the this tournament. Both teams got along well and there were plenty of laughing moments.
Shout out to the NBD boys coming out stronger than expected. Players got together last moment even the swagged out GUCCI wotip was there. Haven't seen him in ages really chill dude along with sickpuppy, pauldean, ck and b1zz. Really nice guys helping us out with mouse and keyboard problems.
Shout out to c2 for really showing us how team momentum is needed with the yelling and all the **** talk really taught me how to do it. There was a lot of tension during matches but after they shook our hands and we talked for a bit and they wished us luck in our future competitions. Shout out to Slant,Akira,Vinxed,Aks,FMB
