HuntForHead's Crossfire guide.

I am making a personal guide in which I think will help many players to increase their level of skill in-game.

Part 1: FPS/Ping.

Part 2: Gaming Equipment.

Part 3: Crosshair type.

Part 4: Armour.

Part 5: Sensitivity/Aiming.

Part 6: Sniping.

Part 7: Rifles.

Part 8: SMG/Shotgun.

part 9: Using cover.
___________________________________________________________________________

Ping: An ideal ping is anything below 100 ping. Depending upon your location you should choose the server closest to you and play within that server for best results. Obviously you will need to pay for decent internet to get a decent ping. There is nothing you can download to get better ping it simply depends upon your ISP and location.

FPS: I would recommend having at least 100+ FPS to play crossfire. Things you can do to help your FPS would be upgrading your graphics card and making sure your graphics driver is up to date and working properly. Close out all background programs while playing. People say Gamebooster and all that other crap will fix your FPS but the reality is if your getting bad FPS there is no fix other then upgrading. If RAM is your problem it usually isn't to expensive to add RAM to your PC.
____________________________________________________________________________

Headphones: I recommend having a headset if you want to increase your level of skill. I would say Turtle Beach headsets or Logitech headsets are probably the best choice but it is personal preference. You can get a decent Turtle Beach headset for 60 dollars.

Mouse: You can play with any mouse but I would recommend buying a gaming mouse with good DPI and polling rates to increase your aiming potential. The mouse I would recommend would have to be the Razor Deathadder which is also 60 dollars. It is very smooth and accurate and I would recommend it to all FPS gamers. There is probably better mice out there but it can't be beat for 60 bucks.
____________________________________________________________________________

Crosshair: I recommend crosshair type B. If you having been using C or A it may take getting used to type B but I think it is the best overall crosshair for aiming at all ranges on any resolution.
____________________________________________________________________________

Armour: Armour has and always will be a part of this game. If you want to increase your overall skill level then you are recommended to get armour. You can call using Armour sad or pathetic but it has become wide spread and to compete with armour users you need armour. With the addition of the map "Crater" in ZM it is easy to get gold crates where it is very common to get a 7 day helmet. I would say play a bunch of ZM Crater and get gold crates and stock up on helmet time and to spend 15 coupons to get the chest armour for 30 days.
____________________________________________________________________________

Aiming/Sensitivity: There is no best sensitivity but I would recommend a sensitivity on the lower end. It is better to be able to make more accurate shots than it is to turn faster. Also the zoom sensitivity is not the same and I would suggest adjusting it so it feels the same as your normal sensitivity. My aiming sensitivity is 10 and my zoomed is 20 for example. I suggest always aiming at head level and going strictly for head shots with rifles and aiming at chest level with snipers.

Sniping: Sniping is hard to master and will take a lot of practice. The sniper is a very important part in any scrim or clan war and can make or break a team. If you are trying to become a skilled player I recommend only sniping competitively after you become adjusted to drag scoping and quick scoping and can hit at least 50% of the shots you take. You should also become used to quick switching your sniper rifle.

Which sniper? I would recommend the AWM to everyone looking to become a skilled sniper.

How to quick scope: Quick scoping is probably the hardest thing to get adjusted to as a sniper. To quick scope on Crossfire you should learn as best you can where the center of your screen is and imagine that's where your crosshair is. When you get that somewhat down go into a public match and practice aiming on people and you will notice when you aim onto a player you will see there name appear and you will then know that they are within your invisible crosshair. As soon as you see their name appear, quickly tap your right then left mouse button as fast as you can and you should get the kill if you aimed properly.

How to drag scope: As with quick scoping you should always be trying to get the center of your crosshair as close to the player as possible before zooming in. When you see the player quickly zoom in with the right click and drag your sniping crosshair in one quick swipe in the direction of the player and as your crosshair passes the player make your shot.

Hardscoping: Hardscoping is only recommended if you are in a safe well covered spot and you are sure you can't get flanked. I would definately not recommend walking around hardscoped. Basically you zoom your sniper into an area you think someone will pass and you wait for them to talk into your crosshair and you make your shot.

No scoping: No scoping is never recommended as even at point blank it can still miss. The only time you should no scope is if they are right in your face and you have no other option. I would always recommend quick scoping over no scoping.

Quickswitching: After each shot you should quickly press Q or 2 then 1 twice to switch to your previous weapon and back to your sniper. This prevents your sniper for rezooming and will allow you to make your shots when you want to make them.

____________________________________________________________________________

Rifles: Rifles are a huge part of this game and will always be the most used in any competitive scene due to them being good in any situation. I will be going over how to use rifles properly and what rifles are good.

Which rifle? The rifles I would recommend to people are the M4A1, AK47, Scar Light, and the QBZ.

Strafing: You should always be strafing when using rifles. Never make yourself an easy target for another rifle user or worse, a sniper. A good tip is to press the A+D keys back and fourth or tap the A or D keys constantly. Do NOT hold them down and shoot as you will lose a lot of accuracy and control. If you tap them you will maintain standing accuracy which will give you a big advantage in control and accuracy because it keeps your crosshair from expanding while also being mobile.

Standing still: I would never recommend standing still as it makes you an easy target. The only time you should stand still is if you are behind an unaware player to make your shot easy.

Tapping: Tapping should be done for any target past 60 meters. Tapping should be one shot at a time and you should be aiming at head level always. I recommend you practice tapping in the shooting range at the furthest target.

Bursting: You should make bursts of 2 or 3 bullets on anyone 30-60 meters away. Burst at head level starting at there head and pulling your mouse SLIGHTLY down as to make the bullets all go in a very tight spread. Never rush your bursts always maintain accuracy. If you try to burst to fast/often you will lose accuracy and control. I recommend you to practice bursting inside the shooting range with both the M4 and the AK. Do not panic just because there is another play shooting at you, you always want to be in control of your gun and not let your panic/emotion take over your shooting.

Spraying: I would only recommend spraying if they are within 30 meters of you. You should be learning how many bullets to shoot depending on how close or far the player is. Spraying is never accurate and I would say to spray only if there is a group of people attacking you up close.
____________________________________________________________________________

SMGS: I would never recommend using any SMG for competitive play and scrims. The damage is simply to low and you will be outgunned by rifles and snipers. If you really want to become good with an SMG try to stay in close range situations.

Which SMG? Get the M12S, or the MP5.

Shotguns: The same thing applys to shotguns as with SMGS.

Which shotgun? Get the Dual Desperado.
____________________________________________________________________________

Cover: You should always be using cover to your advantage. Never be sitting out in the open. The only time you should be moving is to re position yourself or to move to more cover. Always stay to the side of the maps instead of the middle. Find good positions to play on all the maps that are consistent and play those positions. You should try to learn all the maps and the best spots on these maps. Most players just run around the maps randomly expecting to destroy every player. When you come out from behind cover try to make quick accurate shots and then go back to the cover whether this be with a rifle or a sniper.
