Australian/NZ Server!

Hello Z8 mods and everyone,

I have been wondering for a long time now, why doesn't Z8 make an Australian/NZ server for Crossfire? I don't see why Z8 could make 4 UK servers but not 1 Aus/NZ server:(. I have really fast internet and the best ping I have had was 230 in West Server. Many of us have made threads before about this particular topic but I will keep on requesting a server until we get 1 :D. I am a regular ZP buyer and am saving up for Haloween crates and things.

So please Z8, could you find it in your heart to make us an Aus/NZ Server? We would all GREATLY appreciate it very much. Thanks :)

Yours sincerely,
Jared

  • I'm fairly certain Z8 Games doesn't have the license for Australia, so they can't legally place a server there.

    Oh really?
I hope they do have a licence, but if they dont..... Time to move to America :D:D

Last I knew they didn't have the license, but I may be mistaken. That and the gaming community for Z8 Games in Australia may not be large enough to warrant enough profits to pay for the server.
  • well i dont really get why they keep up so many uk servers when there only 2 used and europe people cant make any accounts anymore so...
like there allways 1-2 servers with just a few rooms.
so i hope they will get a server in Australian well i hope for those of Australian.

You should have seen the servers when the Crater map came out. Also, at peak times, all 4 servers are well-used. However, due to the different time zones (I just assume now that you live in America), you never get to see those peeks as this is when you're off to bed, or even at school/working/doing whatever you do).

Also, only people from mainland EU are blocked out. People living in England (yes, England, not the UK) can still make accounts. Also, Turks and Egyptians aren't blocked out either, and they tend to visit the UK servers as they (at least the people from Turkey) can get decent to good pings there...

    best regards,
    Urkel
  • I don't mind seeing Z8Game expand their business. +1
  • would be nice if i move to nz/aus.
im sure some cf version will grab the license
  • +1
I went to New Zealand this summer and had about 280 ping. It was pretty much unplayable, and there was the 400%+ event. It was saddening.
  • Well it depends where in aus/nz u live n ur internet company.
  • Aussies I give em respect. +1
I had a friend who played really well with his 200 ping xD (was aussie)
  • An Australian server would be appreciated so much! over the last few years my ping has gone up so much.. I used to be able to manage 177 ping on the west coast server, and now i can't manage to get any less then 220.
  • Learn to use the search button. If you were wondering for a while... you would have found the answer in seconds..

Z8Games arent allowed to place a server in Australia... there is no license for it.

Both Turks and Egyptians get anywhere between 60-120 ping depending on the ISP.

+1 for Aussie server, but as mentioned, not sure if Z8Games can make a server legally there.

how is it fun playing with a ping of 170-200? dont your shots get tanked mostly?

    nah depends

if we are playing against low pingers (2-100), 1 clip of bullets might not actually kill someone

but if we play 100+ pinger, we usually reg better

if we vs another pinoy or nz or aussie, we reg better a lot

    also, our ping is 140-200+, not 170 - 200 :)
  • This game doesn't have a license to that area and there are probably only a few hundred people from that area that play cf.

    Sums it up ^
  • As mentioned before, they don't have a license for Australia/NZ.

Also, I doubt the playerbase in Australia/NZ is big enought to get their own server..

but there are 2 us south servers and aren't half full most of the time so it would be unfair to give those people 2 servers and not to give one to australia. but yeah i know they cant.
  • Anyways there won't be an Aussie/Nz server -_- Go search for "Australia Server" in the search thing and you will see how many of those threads were rejected.. (all of them)

Anyways there won't be an Aussie/Nz server, nuff said.

I see many ZP purchasing Aussie players, who all play on West coast server most of the time because of the low lag. (This includes myself). I understand that at the moment Z8 may not deem this investment as being profitable, however through advertising, it would probably be worth it. Also consider the fact that the Australian dollar is stronger than the American dollar, and has been for a while now.
In summary the investment into the Australian market would be well worth it if appropriately advertised, not only because of the ever increasing potential consumer base but also because of the economic prosperity experienced by the Australian economy.

Wrong, Europeans can still make accounts, there's just a certain place in Europe where they can't be made.

What part of CF NA/UK do you kids not get?
  • I think all us Australians/Newzealanders would appreciate an Australia/NZ server! If they can make it in UK then I'm sur they can make it here... And also I know like 40 of my friends that would play crossfire again when they make a Australian/NZ server! Z8! MAKE A NEW SERVER FOR US and I'll tell everyone I know to play it..

Im pretty sure you didnt read my post..

They did it for the UK because theyve always had a license for the UK since release.

AU do not have a license therefore cannot have a server.

Now think about it... it took roughly a year for the UK to get a server after the game was released.... how likely is it AU/NZ are getting one any time soon?
  • Here is the process that Z8 would need to go through to get a Australia Server up.

Step 1: Get the license to host CF in Australia from who ever owns the game.
This process is mostly negotiating, the owners would both need to be convinced to sell it and figure out a price to sell it at based on its expected value well the buyer needs to negotiate how they are going to pay and how much they pay for it. Research about Australia's gaming market would be needed to be done for this. Easily can take a few months.

Step 2: Z8 needs to learn about Australia's gaming laws, get permission from Australia's government, and follow said laws to host a server their.
This is mostly just book research and following government protocol and waiting for permission to go ahead. They would also need to plan out how they are going to run the game based on the game laws there; if the laws are too different from NA/UK laws then they may have to make a entirely new version instead.

Step 3: Researching for the best place to host a server in Australia and buy/rent a building/floor to hold the server itself in the preferred area or close to it.
This mostly just researching population distribution amongst the country and a lot like buying a new house anywhere. Again more negotiating on the price of the place they want to set up the server in.

Step 4: Setting up the infrastructure for the server.
Starts with research of construction laws of the area, buying the needed equipment for the server and its infrastructure, put up a construction contracts up for bid for various construction/installation companies, hire the (most likely) lowest bidder, have the hardware and cabling, purchase high bandwidth internet connection and install its needed cabling, test and inspect all the installation, and have a inspector come and make sure every thing is up to the building code of the area. Also setting up any other expenses like electricity and water usage.

Step 5: Install the software and hire someone to maintain the servers.
Sent out hiring advertisement and interview candidates, installing the software into the servers and testing it to see if its working correctly, and teach whoever they hire on how to use their software and how to maintain everything. And finally open the server to the public and announce it.

This process can easily reach well into the millions worth of expenses and Z8 must find out if it is profitable at all to go through before starting.
