sype write up of WCG 2012 US Final

Well my post probably won’t be as elaborate as other but please see below.

Teams:
Hrg-
Very nice showing at the lan; I as really excited to see you guys play as well as you did online. You all have great talent on your team and I really hope you come back next year. You have SICK shots and great attitudes. Your communication can be better; but I think you are all just quiet compared to what Doop and I are used to too. We are loud and obnoxious.

Ubad- I have enjoyed watching you improve over the year and really was glad to compete against you.

Ralf- Nasty ass shot. Keep up the hard work.

Erick- You are one cool cat Erick. Very diplomatic and a great in game leader. Keeping your team positive even after you lost rounds.

Harvey- You as well has a nasty shot. Played smart and made some good plays.

Brando- Crazy awp/awm shot on me on EE going through middle; mid air jump. Couldn’t ask for a better awp/deagle combo. Hope to see you still keep on playing.

Ht-
Hammer Time, Hammer Time, Hammer time. Well played sirs. You definitely kept the lan under control the entire time. You did lose against Jeden on what I thought would be an easy map, Sub base. My only suggestion to you is to work on your teamwork and communications. Your shots are all freaking amazing; the best in the game by far. You guys need to realize earlier when strats don’t work; and come up with ideas on how to beat them. This will come with more play and playing other high caliber teams. Watch your demos more often; learn from your mistakes; and you will no doubt in my mind; Win WCG 2012 Final. If you need someone to dead spec; let me know and I will definitely help you guys out.

Mav- Standup guy and a great player, also a good team leader.

Albert- Very good strong/support player, didn’t get to talk to you much; but keep up the wood work.

Gandhi- Incredible aim. Just need to improve your in game sense a bit and you will be hands down one of the best players in the world.

15- I don’t know if you have got this before; but you remind me of Ksharp from team3d, same attitude and almost same style of play. Very chill guy and you look like you love to have fun playing crossfire. Good job on the win.

Monstar: Tall! Also very nice. Hope to see you do well in china.

Jeden-
It was fun to watch you guys play; you have a very unique sytle. I really didn’t expect you to win the Sub Base match; as that was the match we beat you on in the 2nd online qualifier. Props to you; you made a really good showing at the lan. I really don’t have much else to say about the team; the only time I had a chance to talk to them was on the way back from the player party; but I had drank a bit too much and was not social on the way home.
I can’t remember where you all sat but I am going to try my best to remember who’s face fits what name.

Twerk- Really fun to watch at the lan. I don’t think anyone noticed but you have funny facial expressions when you play. (no I do not stalk you)

Banks- Good guy; had some huge rounds at the lan.

Twinny- I seriously can’t remember where you sat. I Drank too much on Friday lol

Wizdom- Hilarous guy; really nice too. Good luck in your schooling and keep on playing if you can.

UltimatePOV- Good player and a good shot.

Devious-
I really don’t know too much about you guys; it was great you showed up; otherwise we would’ve taken dead last! I am glad you all took the time out of your schedules to play a few matches. Show that you all have care for the game and honor.

Popz- Finally I got to play you without your damn smoke goggles and crazy hats. Shorter than I expected.

Chrissy- I didn’t even get to talk to you. But thanks for coming.

Leapy- Stop saying yolo, like doop says. Also move the hell out of dodge and get to a city. Your
personality is great for city living and I think you would enjoy it much much more. Also if you are ever in the KC area; hit me up I will definitely hang out and drink some beers. My couch is always open if you need to crash.

Chubrub- Also didn’t really talk to you either. Keep on showing

Quack- really cool guy; going to school to be something productive to the human race. Seriously become an anesthesiologist! Keep playing as long as you can.

LPK-
Where do I begin. This by far I think is the most random team of all. Back in 2010 we made it to the WEM only to be knocked out by the team we beat. It was evident that this year we were unprepared and not ready to beat a team like HRG or HT. I wish we would’ve played Jeden rather than Devious. I think the matches would have been a bit closer and a bit more fun to watch. Doop is also correct. LPK is done and should never return to Crossfire. The name needs to be put to rest. We gave it a good shot, and didn’t really come out ahead; but had a great run.

Doop- Charlie is by far one of my best teammates/ friend. He is the only guy I know who will put his mind to something and accomplish it. Has a great sense of humor and always tries to keep the mood light. We had a good run as teammates in this game and I hope we can maybe continue it down the future in either other games or crossfire. I wish we could’ve done more with Crossfire; but you and I have had some bad roster issues the past few years; live and learn brother. I hope to see you keep gaming as long as you can. Stick to playing; I think strat calling is not your cup of tea; yes you can do it; but you are a much stronger player when you dont. You are much better at mid round decisions.

Remix- Jarrod; thanks for filling in for us on such short notice. I don’t think crossfire is your game and I think you should stick to CS:GO. You are seriously one of the best gamers I have seen in North America. I really hope CS:GO has some big opportunities for you; as I think it is your time to shine and be in the spotlight.

Jon/Another- Was a cool guy and quiet. Was finally nice to meet you and get to know you on more of a personal level other than what crossfire brings. Keep doing well in school and please don’t die at Albany.

Minty- Peter! Hands down I like your personality and I think you have a bright future ahead of yourself if you can buckle down and find what you love to do. You are freaking hilarious and can roll with the punches on jokes. If you do make it to China this year; I know you will be amazing and do good things for HRG.

WCG Event:
Two words; Fracking Amazing. The venue was awesome; it took place in the middle of the comic con. People were always looking and seeing what was going on. It was a good location. I did have an issue with the space you allotted for the teams though; we all had big mousepads and little room to use them in.
The laptops were auhmazing! The headsets were great too. I would’ve preferred 120hz monitors; but they were just fine.

WCG Staff:
Staff was excellent; mostly comprised of ex pro-gamers themselves. They really know how to treat and handle situations. The few crashes we had; they were right on them and kept things under control. We all should really be thanking Craig Levine for creating ESSA and putting together these events. Truly a blessing to all PC competitive esports in this nation.
Also a shout out to Alex GoldenboyFTW Mendez for giving me an interview and chit chatting at the lan, and Zach Wigal. Zach; thanks for orchestrating all the gamers to the right locations and answering our questions. You sir deserve a pat on the back.

My Trip:
Thursday-

Well got up at 4am to leave for my flight. I was the first to get into New York. I hung out with my cousin who owns http://ifixbyx.com/site/. He is a really cool guy and has a lot of advice for young people. I waited until my team was at the hotel; then I left from cousins to go and be with my mates.

Friday-

We played the tournament. I got to meet everyone and walk around a bit at the comic con. It was a good day even though we got knocked out earlier than I wanted to.

Saturday-

Slept in and didn’t do much; we toured the city by foot and got to take in the new York culture first hand. It was very different. I liked it and would consider moving there. I have been around the world; and I would have to say New York NY is pretty amazing.
The player party was very fun. Taught some bowling lessons to some HT guys and also Craig. I talked to the CEO of WCG; who is a very cool guy and also love video games. Couldn’t have a better CEO in charge of WCG.

Sunday-

Got up hung over and almost missed my flight lol. Only to find out that my connecting flight had maintenance issues and I was delayed about 5 hours in Cincinnati. The airport was nice and I had a food voucher so I got a nice dinner before I got home. My girlfriend was very happy to have me home.

Overall the experience was great and I hope I get to do it again.
Personally, I am not done with crossfire. There is another event next year and I would love to be a part of a team who wants to win and get a chance to go at it in china. I didn’t play that well at the lan, but I know that I am one of the top tier players at this game and I have a lot of fight left in me to prove that. So if anyone wants to have me tryout or if anyone wants to try and put a team together; hit me up.
