Key Remapping

I don't think many people actually remap their keys. I always do for any game. The default is wasd type movement. I like the esdf movement. Heres what I did. I have a 5 click mouse. Oddly CF won't let me use my scroll wheel click.

Things that I've changed:

Movement: esdf
Crouch: a
Special/Zoom: z
Commands: x c and v
Defuse: w
Drop Wep: g
Walk: ctrl
Primary Wep: Left Shift
Secondary Wep: Right Click
Fire: Left Click
Melee Wep: Left Side mouse click
Nade: Right Side mouse click

Everything else is the same, I believe.

Just thought I'd post this. Maybe some will use it. I think it helps this way.

nice, first of all could you tell me how to remap my keys? and second do you see any advantage in using the esdf setup?

esdf is kinda...unusual, I prefer wasd
I just set
crouch -> C (easier to reach c than left Ctrl with your thumb)
radio 3 -> I (no special reason)
(and I gotta change Shift to SHIFT and Space to SPACE every time I start the game)

set your keys in the Options Menu (upper right)

I probably wouldn't mind changing my keys to esdf. It would make make a comfortable/useable Z-key place for my pinky. esdf is pretty much the same as wasd just gives you some more space (imo).

If you can explain how you did it then I'd probably make the switch as well.

dayum. only thing I have different is 'F' for grenades instead of 4, cuz it's way easier to reach. I've been doing that since I started playin PC FPS.

Im left handed.
i use arrow keys to move.
right control to crouch.
Right shift to jump.
Number pad 0 to walk.
Rest is same, i believe.

esdf sounds like a better idea than wasd... Never liked the default and even though im not a lefty I use similar ones to daniel8u...


Control keys: arrow keys: 0 on the num pad for jump, right control for crouch, application for walk, right shift for reload, 1 for drop wep, 4 for defuse. Easy setup without straining fingers

Wow, kinda surprised this caught on.

You can change your key mappings, when you're not in-game. Click next to the Exit button (Options) and click on control. To change a key just click a default letter and press the new key you want. Or mouse button. As I said, middle mouse won't work. I use that for TeamSpeak anyways

I've remap this way for alot of my games. Reason being is because, you can still reach Tab, left shift, ctrl and have more keys to use. Gives you T G V and B(bag) making it easier. Also, F key is easy to find do to the dash. You go to there to type anyways when using chat. You can crouch and move alot better and have Z for zooming/special attack.

I like having Pistol on the right click, and Primary on the left shift for quick switching. So instead of ducking and reloading, I just quick switch and shoot away. If you have the side left and right clicks, you can use those for melee and nades. No more mouse scrolling.

...hmm....I'm going to see if it's saved to a .txt or .ini files...cause maybe you can slave a key (middle mouse) to it by manually adding it in yourself...

i just use the scroll to weapon switch i few its mor ezer and quicker XD

I use arrow keys +
num 0 = reload
num 1 = drop gun
num 2 = main weapon ( hardly use it )
num 3 = knife ( hardly use it )
right shift = walk
right ctrl = crouch
space = defuse
= = jump

Im using azerty, so = key is where the / key is
Im right handed, but I never used wasd or zqsd (in azerty)

My crouch is caps lock.

Think about it if your using your three middle fingers for WASD then don't you think the nearest button for your pinky finger is caps lock. It's great if you need to crouch quickly or something because, for me, the ctrl buttom is a little uncomfortable.

WASD:Movement(pretty used to it cuz i play a lot of FPS)
C=Crouching(pretty used to C tooo)
Z,X and Left Ctrl for radio(didn't use Alt cuz it's my Xfire push to talk)

hm some of you make your keys more difficult on yourselfs

Movement: esdf <-- that seems harder for me personally
Crouch: a <--- a? with this key you basically prevent yourself from moving in crouch [L-Ctrl] is the best I think.
Special/Zoom: z <-- that's fine but i prefer to just rightclick to zoom.
Commands: x c and v <-- u only swapped z for v. but fine.
Defuse: w <-- I prefer F
Drop Wep: g <-- using these movement keys, would make dropping ur gun on mistake a issue.
Walk: ctrl <-- prefer L-shift.
Primary Wep: Left Shift <-- for these 2 I just use Q as last used, so at start press 12/21 and then if u have to ever change, Q.
Secondary Wep: Right Click
Fire: Left Click
Melee Wep: Left Side mouse click
Nade: Right Side mouse click

just my opinion of course just to me seems like some of these can cause issues or make reaction pretty slow. ( of course if it works out for you then who cares what i think right lol. ) nice posts though. always interesting to see peoples preferences.
