Fps?

Hi,my fps is having some problems.

In-game it is 20-50,but usually stays at 20-30

I can't play good,and I've always been an above average player.

My specs

nVidia GeFore 6600
1GB Ram
Intel 2.80 GHZ

my father's laptop runs better fps,and it's not even a gaming laptop.

My guesses could be:

Virus
Computer is stuffed,very little space
Third Party programs in the background


Note: I've tried Gamebooster,no increase in performance.

have you changed changed your image settings?

if not then listen to this.

1.right click and go to your graphics card control panel
2.go to 'adjust image settings'
3.change settings to 'performance' setting

I play on a laptop with a Geforce FX go5200 and I'm usually stable at around 60 fps. Check to see which drivers are appropriate for your video card. I had attempted to use a newer driver for my laptop and it actually degraded performance by quite a bit. It's fairly common for manufacturers to drop support for older cards in their drivers. You might also want to think about defragmenting your hard drive. If you've never done this it could improve system performance greatly.

on win 7, my fps is reallly bad(15-25) compared to 40-50 with xp.

Do you have gamebooster?

gamebooster didn't do anything for me. or maybe i gained like 2fps...lol the problem with me is that it jumps from 15 to 40, to 25, to 50, to 20, etc

Ok.
right click "my Computer"
and then properties
then choose advanced from the top bar
then under Performance click settings
then set it to "Adjust for max performance"

lol how come i get 50-60 fps all the time while my comp is a real fossile >.<

cpu: 1.8 go
Memory: 1,5go
Harddrive: 40go 120go (extern)
Graphic card: 7600GT nvidia


(so far its the cpu that causes me most of the problems lol)
