Error in InitRenderer().Shutting down

when i start up crossfire i get the game guard thing and then the black screen then this comes up (Error in InitRenderer().Shutting down) i do not know why maby somone can tell me how to fix it. btw i have Windows Xp. i just redownloaded crossfire and that is what happens.

Gms. please help, i have the same issue. So yeah i recently updated my driver, but then the comp's display suddenly screwed up (color wise and resolution) . Since i couldn't make it better, i tried a system restore. The display was back to normal now. However, when i tried to open crossfire, i also get this error. (Error in InitRenderer().Shutting down) This happens when the black screen opens up.

So yeah i fixed this myself by tweaking some things around. But i got some help from here, I didnt find it before for some reason when i was using the search button, but this may help some other guys with this issue. Thanks for the posters.

So basically, update your Direct X, (9 for Windows XP, 10 for Vista)

If this doesnt work, open up Display in Control Panel, open tab Settings, click on Advanced i think it was, update your Adapter and Monitor, (restore point first) then click on trouble shoot tab, and move the thing all the way to the right. (this was the problem for me) For some reason when the thing was to the left, the driver couldnt handle opening Crossfire. If this still doesnt work, update your driver too.

Now to update your driver:
Go Control Panel, press System, open the tab HardDrive tab, press Properties under Device Manager, click on Display Adapters, open up the adapter you have inside, press on the tab Driver, then press update. *Remember, I am not responsible for what happens.* If anything goes wrong, you can use system restore to rollback the changes, or you can just press the rollback button underneath the update button.

If things still go wrong, use the trouble shoot help, because this really helped me tons. Also do a windows update.
