Has Z8 hosted any TD contests/matches?
I would love to compete in a Z8 hosted TD match. I know most pro's seem to hate public TD matches, but I personally love them. It's a totally different skill set from scrimming and other team matches, but I think it's a valid skill to be able to pwn in a pub TDM.
I'd like to be the first to throw my hat in the ring to participate in any future TDM's.

TDM lulz. whats ur strat?? there are no strats in TDM
Edit: and u call urself PRO! niceee -
I never claimed to be a pro and secondly there's a strategy for everything in life. For example does'nt your masturbation strategy work well for you? You don't hear me bad mouthing your self love experiments, so please let us TD players enjoy that aspect of the game.

this convo SWERVED off topic haha but ye tdm tourny =waste of time breath and skill ty.
Not necessarily, all type of matches have skill and strategies for them. Camping for one, is a strategy used by most people. In fact, you can always apply or integrate S&D strats into them too!
Though, usual pub matches are just rush etc. -
Not only is their skill involved in TD, but it has been seen in tournaments in other games as well as Chinese CrossFire.
That being said, there is less strategy and more base camping. It is also usually only played once compared to the other modes.
If you don't know what i'm talking about then you have only ever played TD against new players. (which is fairly likely seeing how most people avoid the mass nades and newbie mode)
To answer the OP, no there has not been a TD tournament or any TD map in a tournament. -
%100 of all pub matches are rush. unless you got you're mates / clan mates in the game with you.
and as for a strategie for TDM it is possible... but there are only so many starts possible...
example: egypt
1 guy stand there 1 guy snipe on rock base 1 guy rush flank right....
and?...... not really a STRAT beacause you die... and come right back :O
not dishing on TDM matches. im just an S&D scrimmer. -

Well, TDM tournys are just an idea. Plus, we're talking about Clan vs Clan, not rando vs rando (which include hackers and newbs etc). Rando vs Rando is in pubs. -
There is plenty of skill involved in TDM.
Setting up crossfires, playing agressive vs passive, controlling specific power points (towers on Ship for example), grenade angles, spawn control and timing, playing with the momentum, etc.
In the WCG they did a 3-set.
First they would play Mexico first to 150 kills, then Black Widow S&D, then Dry World EM.
tl;dr: Competitive TDM might not have strats in the same sense as S&D, but there is still a lot of player IQ that goes into it. -
I'm a S&D scrimmer too! Though I might not have as much experience as everyone else, only started a few days ago.
TD is less of 'Strategies' and more of a single way of playing. You can't win if you stall (most likely) and you don't have two ways of winning. That being said, you can still play most of the TD maps with some strategies of flanking and camping.
But what would I know? I'm just a newbie player. -
One of the reasons I love TD's so much is that a player with good reflexes and quick thinking can do well. If you think TDs are all about 100% rushing or 100% camping then you're not playing that mode of the game in a smart way. I do understand that not everyone is as enthusiastic about TD play as I am, but the rampant bad mouthing of that mode is kinda ridiculous. I've noticed on this forum that if one or two pros take a certain opinion on a subject then there will be at least 10-20 wanna be's taking up that same torch. I'm not accusing anyone in this thread of that, but I gotta speak up when I hear people claim TD matches are only for noobs.
But I've beat this dead horse many times before in the forum. I'm not trying to convince anyone to become a TD player if they don't enjoy that part of the game. However I would like to play in TD tourney just to see how well I could place. -

I think you will find that what most 'pros' mean when they say something similar to 'TD is for noobs' is because of the mass amount of newer players you find in there. Getting high ratios from people that take 2 seconds to even see you and sighing at the blocking and nade spams takes away any elegance the game might posses.
So if you want to look at it this way, for pubs the skill level goes like this:
Lowest - TD
midish - EM (basically TD without respawn)
high middle - GM (Different skills and style required, but mass amount of baddies and hacks makes it lower)
Highest - SnD -

You get to a point where pub games are just so heinous.
If I'm not scrimming I'm trying someone out.
Oh... that's if I'm not playing mw2 =P -
