  • While it's a good idea, not going to happen. It's a ridiculous option to soooo many people, it seems antisocial, just a lot of things wrong with it. Yes, people could just not use it, but still probably not going to happen. +1 even thought that doesn't mean jack sht, games infested with foreigners.

It's called Assalamu Alaykum, People write it differently but that's how it's announced right.

It's used in Muslim religion (as Hello) which Egyptians/Turkish use.
  • Selamun sh't sounds funny. I will use this to welcome other users.

Anyway, I think we should not block it because the players should have their freedom to say what they want, as long as they don't insult other users.

And a complete chat block is not that good too, you wont hear your teammates commands anymore and they might say something important.
  • don't insult other users.

When does this NOT happen? It's almost a 100% chance that u will be insulted for either using some gun, hardscoping, killing someone etc etc
+1 on the idea, I don't want to see every damn noob spamming..
  • as long as they don't insult other users.

Well, Egyptians always keep cussing pro players in their language (Arabic) in the chat.
  • they don't insult other users.

you even know crossfire? 99% its someone insulting someone else because of the gun, camping, got killed,hack,farm,....
each room have it. like half of the room is insulting other people of the other team.
  • selamun aleykum means: peace be with you

and the answer aleykum selam means: peace be with you too

    is this something to hate?

its not english? its a english server so they dont got to talk all kinda stuff.
if they really wanna talk that then they should talk in clan chat or join the crossfire of their place.
  • If it's not a known English character they should put a filter in place to fill it with an * in my opinion. I write code similar to this everyday, and this is simply not done because they don't want to not because they can't.
  • Also something else I just thought about the forums are English only so why isn't the in game chat English only? Just food for thought I guess.

well they cant do it english only and they cant look if someone talks english or not GMs/MODs cant see it in each room.
you could talk dutch,german,.... anything you want just not special characters.
but you dont need special character to talk something else then english.
  • You guys didn't understand me, I said that I think people have to right to talk in any language or about what they want unless it is insulting. I never said that cf players never insult or insult a lot, I just said that they should have the right to talk, but not to insult.

but you know what it means if they say something in another language then english? i dont think so.... so that means they can insult people and most wouldnt even know they insult you. then they can break the rules...
  • I think it doesn't really matter. The reason why swear words are blocked is because it hurts people but when you don't understand them it wont hurt you. I think most of them don't insult anyway, they are just chatting with each other in their language. But the GMs should decide about this, and I am sure that they are against the chat block.

It means Hello or Hi. *FACEPALM*

so your saying people are allowed to break the rules by insulting someone but you cant insult someone because you would break the rules. thats seems fair right?
but i do think some people would allways block chat each game.
but it sure would help if your in a room with no one talking english or just spamming room.
  • so your saying people are allowed to break the rules by insulting someone but you cant insult someone because you would break the rules. thats seems fair right?

I never said that they should be allowed to insult other users in their language, I just say that it doesn't matter for the insulted player because he doesn't understands it, but when they get reported they will be banned like all the other users too.
  • It means Hello or Hi. *FACEPALM*

no it doesn't mean hello or hi. it is just used for the same reason with hello or hi, as it is a greeting.
  • I speak over 5 languages and I don't get mad when people speak arabic or whatever. I simply ask them what it means and try to remember it. I've had egyptian players willing to explain everything to me before.
  • This thread strongly reminds me of a discussion that emerged during the European soccer championship:
Some german politicians/sport activists suggested making singing the national anthem before the game obligatory for all players (NOTE: Germany had a massive wave of immigration due to being short in workers in the 1960s, so many people with a so-called "migration background" live in Germany today. And some of them simply feel a stronger bind towards the country of their ancestors despite being german citizens, so they don't sing).
Luckily, that idea was quickly abandoned. You know why? Because it is ridiculous!

The same goes for the "speak english only" idea here:
This is CF NA? Aren't the USA the nation that has the freedom of all people to do whatever they friggin' want (e.g. NOT insuring oneself or buying large amounts of weapons, dye one's hair orange and then kill many people during a cinema premiere) written into its constitution?
If someone is tired of reading all the stuff in the chat: Just don't read it! If there are people you want to comunicate with, use Teamspeak, Ventrilo or whatever VOIP service you can imagine.

Secondly: if you're fearing that someone is insulting you in a language you cannot even understand, you should look for a desensibilization training, as you normally could not seriously care about something that you don't even understand.

Thirdly: The amount of spamming is strongly restricted in the in-game chat. After some about 7 macros or so one gets blocked for at least 10 secs. If you regard greetings or handwritten chat in foreign languages as spam: get over it. Every user should have the right to greet others or write in another language.

And the reason why this isn't allowed here in the forums is simple: I take it that 90% of the Mods speak english as their only fluent language. If it was allowed to write in other languages here:
    - the Mods would have no possibility to control whether the content of a thread goes with the rules or does even belong in this forums
    - users who don't speak the language of the thread or post could'nt read it (and on a forum, everyone should be able and allowed to read every thread or post)

Not to forget that spamming would be really easy if other languages would be allowed in the forums. Things would soon get out of hand, the amount of spam would be too huge too handle properly.
In-game however, the amount of spam is a lot smaller due to the macro and voice message limitations...

    best regards,
    Urkel
  • They should make an option wich can block all the users. Except the messages (bomb is at B side) and all those.
  • Just do it like i do:

    Dont pay attention anymore.

If anyone has something valueable to say, he can message me or whisper which has a diff color.

If so.one is really annoying and hes on my team i ask him once to stop spamming, if he doesnt, i start a vote.

But i agree op, the ingame chat isnt worth to pay attention 99% of the time.
  • I never said that they should be allowed to insult other users in their language, I just say that it doesn't matter for the insulted player because he doesn't understands it, but when they get reported they will be banned like all the other users too.
no you didnt say they are allowed. but it makes them able to break the rules and get away with it. while other people cant. like you say something in english and you insult him/her then they insult you back but not in english but your not sure its a insult or not.
then you cant report it but he can because he know its a insult. thats not fair.
ps i think we should stop talking on this thread or might end up like the last thread we had....
  • Is it really that bad? There are 7 billion people on the world, why is one of them so important?

By the way, you can still screenshot their chat and report it, you just have to translate it.

so we have to go through all the trouble to translate because they dont talk english on a english game and server?
  • uhh yes, they have the right to talk in their language.

But beside that, z8games allow them to talk in their language, it's their game and they make the rules. You and all the other members here have no right to talk.

If you really hate them, then just create your own game and ban them from your game, but this is z8games game and they allow people to talk in their languages.

How would you like it when I fart in your face and then tell you to not smell it? It is there and you can't avoid it.
  • would love to have the option to just block public chat instead of having to block people one by one. pub chat is annoying af.
